BIG UPDATES ON FUTURE VIDEOS!

Another month goes by meaning another month of progress! Within the last month I am now dangerously close to completing all of the important prep for the special project I'm working on and once that's complete I will be able to begin recording and editing it, I've been working on this for almost a year now and everyday it consumes me, I can't wait for you to see what I've been working on all this time and I hope that for both of us it's worth the wait.

OTHER VIDEOS. Honestly I've gone back and forth between working on about 3 different video essays over the last few months and its meant that no single video is close enough to release. One of them required way more editing time than I was able to give and another one felt too risky to release at this point in time. However right now I'm working on the script for a sequel to a video most of you guys really liked and it's shaping up to be pretty good! As for release, I'm hoping to get it out BEFORE the huge project as a way to not make the wait too long and I have faith that I can get this video out in a timely manner.

So often I think of the day I finally get to release that huge project, it's really hard to go so long keeping details hidden about it and not being able to show people why videos have been taking so long. There's a reason no one else has made something Like This before because it's genuinely fucking hard and time consuming and I've probably poured hundreds of hours into it at this point. But each day, bit by bit, it gets slowly closer and closer to release. I really want to go back to making "normal" videos and getting back to regular content, there's so many horror games (and non-horror games) that I want to make videos on and I've had to put so much stuff on the backburner to finish this project. But soon it will be, and what I've got in store I hope you'll enjoy.

PROGRESS UPDATE ON FUTURE VIDEO ESSAYS!

HI! It's been awhile since I've done one of these... But im still working on things! It's been a wild months and lots of plans have changed and been moved around, projects have taken longer than I thought and different videos are taking up different amounts of priority, so lets get into it!

Firstly, I was working on a huge video essay (some of which was teased at the end of the last compilation video) and I'm extremely happy with how its shaping up, however for that video I set myself a really high standard with editing and it has taken way longer than I thought to complete, after about 3 months of work balancing it alongside another project of mine I have 20 minutes completed out of the estimated length of about 1 hour. This is honestly really unsustainable especially when I want to get another video out as soon as possible and so I made the decision early this month to postpone finishing that video until later in the year whilst I give my time to other projects.

SO, what are those other projects? Well, I've been working on a few smaller video essays recently that I hope to release soon, they are small scale and require less editing time and I think you guys will enjoy them! I don't like giving exact predictions on when it will release HOWEVER I would except you'll see them sooner rather than later!

THERE IS ONE MORE THING. A project that has consumed huge amounts of my time for the majority of this year and is the reason why uploads are so slow as it has required lots of my time in multiple different areas from writing, to composing to programming and organizing people to help work on it as well as everything else that comes with making a project Like This. I don't want to give many details on it or what IT even is as even the act of knowing about it is a spoiler in and of itself, that being said there is a reason no one has attempted to make something like this before as it is A LOT of work and so this has obviously taken up a significant chunk of time for me this year. There is some good news though, as of now the majority of the important prep is done for this project and most of the pieces are in place, there are a few large hurdles to overcome within the next month or so in regards to it however I'm confident whatever This Thing is, you will see it released by the end of the year.

It's been very hard on me the last few months having to keep something Like This secret, working on things that I find so amazing and makes me so excited but being unable to talk about any of it until its ready is something that's hard to bear, especially when it comes at the cost of making my usual videos in a timely manner. Sometimes I even question whether I should even be making something Like This in the first place, but this project is something I am extremely passionate about creating and I dream so often of the day I finally can release this thing to the world and for all of you to see what took me this long to make.

Update on Next Video Essay (And where I've been!)

Hi everyone! It's been awhile hasn't it? You're probably wondering where I've been or when another video will come out and so let me break down where I've been and when you can expect my next video!

First off, I've still been working even though I've been quiet the last couple months but I am working on something huge, something I feel is worth pursuing and something that has taken up so much of my time and has made it harder to work on videos. This project is obviously still related to Youtube but the scope of it is something far greater and if given the right amount of time and effort could be something wonderful and something the both of us might enjoy a lot. I've thought about making this every single day since I've had the idea for it and over the last few months especially I've moved into full production of it which has required lots of moving parts and people to help out and lots of resources and I just really can't wait for you all to see what I've been working on. I don't like announcing or teasing things too early in advance but given my silence recently I feel as though I owe it to you to explain why I've been gone and why videos have been slow, all will make sense in due time but the bulk of the work on this project is still yet to be done and it will only take up more and more of my time over the next few months.

SO... When am I going to upload again? Well! I'm in the process of editing my next video essay, but the editing for this one has been quite intensive as I am trying out lots of new techniques and ideas that means the edit will be higher quality but also more time intensive, this will hopefully be my next video essay that will be uploaded however I do plan on working on a few smaller ones that I'm in the early process of scripting. This video is quite the experimental one but I'm quite excited to see what people think of it once it releases.

As for other videos I don't want to make any promises I cant keep, my main priority right now is that huge project I mentioned at the beginning, there's a big deadline at the end of July that I need to be hit so everything will be on the back burner to ensure I can hit that deadline, that being said I am still working on editing this video essay and I hope to get this out within the next month or so.

It really sucks having to keep quiet about what I've been working on, but all will make sense in due time and 1 day once that project is out you can look at it and hopefully think "OH, THATS WHY IT TOOK SO LONG TO MAKE, THATS WHY THERE WASN'T MUCH TIME FOR VIDEO ESSAYS". Hopefully atleast. For now it's just something I can't escape from... even in my dreams.

1 Year ago today I uploaded what is probably my favourite Video I've ever made so far, with that video being... The Horror of Escapism.

This video was born out of probably one of the darkest periods of my life, I was consumed by feelings of loss and grief and depression and so desperately wanted an escape from it all. In doing so I went heavily into making Youtube videos as a means of escapism and as a reason to keep myself inside and locked away and this video was a product of all of those feelings and that time in my life.

This video helped me grow so much, as a writer, as a creator and as a person and by tackling the ideas of Escapism in the games Yume Nikki, Deltarune and OMORI it helped me tackle how I used escapism in my own life. That is to say the whole video in and of itself was a form of escapism and I really poured my heart and soul into making this video.

The production process for this video took place over 3 months, beginning in early march after just releasing my Fears to Fathom Iceberg video and I began writing the script over the next few months (with the final section being scripted and recorded literally about a week or so before releasing the video), the production process was especially intense during May where I begun editing the video and I had a hard deadline of June 4th as that's when the new Deltarune chapters would release and potentially invalidate lots of the point I make in the video and so the last few weeks of May followed the routine of: wake up, have a redbull, edit for 9-10 hours and sleep to do the same thing again on the next day.

I so vividly remember the feeling of waking up on the morning of releasing this video exactly 1 year ago today, I had realised the night before that only a very small amount needed to be done for it to be complete which meant that it could be uploaded and it could finally be done. I remember that feeling so fondly, the feeling that no matter what happens everything would change after uploading that video and I remember waking up multiple times throughout the night wanting it to be morning and wanting to get sufficient sleep so I could finish and upload the video, and thats a memory that I cherish.

After uploading the video both the success and the response from it was absolutely mind-blowing, so many people that I knew reached out to me saying how good it was or how it touched them and the comments OH MY GOD THE COMMENTS. Sometimes I read back through them to remember why I do this, and that these silly videos I make can mean so much to people, and seeing how deeply this video connected with people is something I will always appreciate and is why I hold this video so so dear in my heart. To think that something so simple yet so personal could resonate with so many is such a wonderful thing, and I hope that I can make many many more things just like that and I'm so thankful for anyone who enjoys what I make.

This video also birthed the idea of a project I've been working on for a year now, an idea thats so suffocating and insistent that the only way I can get this idea to leave me alone is to make it and release it. But for now its just something I can't escape from... even in my dreams.

Progress Update on Future Videos!! (and where I've been)

Hey! I've kinda forgot to do one of these... So let me update you on where I've been! I've been working a lot on 2 projects that are both taking a LONG time to complete so let me update you on the status of these 2 as well as other videos you might be able to expect along the way!

1st Project.
For this first project I had already completed the script back in January with only minor revisions being necessary for beginning to fully record/voice it, I'm about 1/5th of the way through voicing it and... well to be quite frank editing this video has been a huge beast, its taken me hours and hours to edit this and theres only a few minutes of completed footage, granted I did start with a particularly difficult section in terms of editing but for this video my main goal has been to grow my editing skills and push myself in areas I'm not comfortable in. That being said it has taken a long time...

I've had real life stuff get in the way that has prevented me from recording however I plan to ramp up the speed of production on this video in hopes of getting it out... well I don't like giving release times this early but I can assure the gap will be shorter than the gap between my last 2.

2nd Project.
This project I really can't talk about... like AT ALL... its something I've been having cooking in the background since October of last year and I intend to go into full production this summer, however its taken up A LOT of my time since the Chilla's Art video released and is part of the reason not as much work has been done on the first video im working on, but with this, please be patient and know something is being worked on, something you may enjoy. Something I can't escape from... even in my dreams.

Other Projects.
I'm planning to work on a few (smaller) video essays and other stuff in the meantime that doesn't take months to produce, these videos will either be compilations like I've done before (however with more touch ups, like fixing some of the audio issues in the Puppet Combo video or tweaking other aspects of videos that I didn't have time for) whilst the video essays themselves will be between 10 to 30 minutes, a much more reasonable length than the 1+ hour long mega essays I've seem to have found myself making recently.

The start of this year has been a bit slow in terms of output, but trust me everything has just been me building up more and more and once I'm ready it'll all come like a cascade.

Progress Update on Future Videos!

Hi! Thanks for all the support on my most recent video essay! In this post I'll be talking about that and also about where I plan to go from here and what my plans look like for the rest of the year...

ABOUT THE NEWEST VIDEO: For those that don't know I recently uploaded an hour+ long video on Chilla's Art Games. I really enjoyed making that video! However it's probably been the most stressed out I've been whilst making something and towards the 2nd half of working on it, it went from "this is fun to" "oh my fucking god its been 4 months since i last uploaded i just need to get this fucking video out" but with this video done its now cleared up a lot of time for me to work on other stuff!

OTHER STUFF: I currently am beginning the early stages of working on my next video, lucky for me this video was already scripted in full back in January so all I need to do is record the voice over and edit it! Which is still really time consuming but it means I can go straight in to full production once I'm ready! However, I'm also working on several other things, one of which being an absolutely huge project that wont be seen till later this year but one that has taken up a lot of my time for the last couple months and one that will only continue to take up MORE time as things progress... however I'm confident in this project, and I'm confident that someone somewhere might like it just as much as I do... but the details of which I'll discuss closer to when its ready since I don't like announcing things so early in production. That being said I've still mentioned it here to explain why videos may be slower to come out because I've got something else taking up lots of my time.

SO WHENS YOU'RE NEXT VIDEO COMING OUT?: Well I honestly don't know, I've been using this period to work on that project and get some of the foundations done however there's a lot of work I need to put into it before a certain deadline and so balancing videos alongside that may be tough... however I can assure you that the gap between this video and the next won't be 4 months again (hopefully) and I have a rough date in mind for my next one!

I'll probably keep updates like these less frequent until I'm deep into production on a video, if you miss me that much then i've got a bunch of video essays you've probably not even seen so go check 'em out! (that sounds like im going away for awhile, im not but just assume if im quiet its cause im working on something HUGE!)
