At OSSF, we shared a critical lesson from six months of deploying AI copilots in enterprise environments: you can't just expose FDC3 intents to AI and expect magic.
The counterintuitive finding? Composite intents work better than atomic ones.
Exposing dozens of FDC3 intents (ViewInstrument, GetPortfolio, ViewChart, etc.) creates chaos — the AI picks randomly, skips steps, and delivers unpredictable results. The solution? Design workflow-level capabilities instead, such as "AnalyzeClientPortfolio."
