The president’s about-face did not come in an Oval Office address or a speech on the campaign trail. Instead, it came in a letter posted to social media as he recovered from COVID-19 at his beach house in Delaware.

7 ORGANISATIONAL COMMUNICATION FAILURES OF THE SECURITY AGENCIES IN TRUMP'S ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT, WHICH COULD RUN ANY BUSINESS INTO LOSSES; BY THE QUINTESSENTIAL POLYMATH.

For starters, as an ardent student of life and a life-long learner, who has for close-to 3 decades, learnt, developed and mastered the art of always extracting life, didactic and helpful lessons from any and all life's experiences [I come across], whether mine or others' [especially mine], hence, this piece is -

Hence, this is simply an educational, enlightening and business piece for every reader's enrichment.

- On Saturday, 13th July, 2024 at 18:11hours on a rally stage in Butler, Pennsylvania [USA], a 20-year-old gunman fired 9 rounds in the direction of former President Donald Trump, grazing his ear and injuring him. Tragically, a spectator - Fireman Corey Comperatore was killed, and 2 others were critically injured. Snipers swiftly neutralised the shooter.

- The Federal Bureau of Investigation [FBI] is investigating the incident as a potential act of domestic terrorism. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, had no identification on him during the shooting but was identified afterward through DNA analysis. The AR-style semi-automatic rifle he used belongs to his father and he purchased ammunition and other supplies he needed days to the attack.

The nation was rattled by this event, and authorities are working to understand how such a security breach occurred.

As a communication expert, coach, consultant, among other professional competencies in the human capacity development and human capital enhancement field in which I practise, keenly following the news analyses of this event in the last 1 week, I have noted that a key challenge in this matter is ineffective organisational communication, among others.

I have identified 7 ORGANISATIONAL COMMUNICATION FAILURES which possibly led to this breach of security.

What are these 7 ORGANISATIONAL COMMUNICATION FAILURES you ask?

Here we go -

ORGANISATIONAL COMMUNICATION FAILURE 1 - PROPER ENCODING -

For there to be an effective communication [of tasks, projects, operations etc.] in an organisation or an organisational space or business, it commences with proper encoding of the communication.

Encoding involves the process of thoughts generation and translation of these thoughts into words and or information format to communicate the task, activity and or operation in an organisation or business.

An encoding failure can lead to a failed outcome, as we saw in the security of former president Donald Trump on Saturday, 13th July, 2024 at Butler, Pennsylvania by the securities agencies [made up of the Secret Service at the helm, the State and County Police in collaboration].

If organisational communication must be effective for business success, proper encoding is crucial, critical and vital for consideration.

The 2024 United States presidential election debate held on the 27th of June, was hosted by CNN and anchored by 2 of her ace anchors - Dana Bash and Jake Tapper.

The Ojude Oba #festival is an ancient celebration among the Yoruba people of Ijebu-Ode, a major town in Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria.

The festival dates back to the 14th century when the Ijebu kingdom was established.

The name "Ojude Oba" translates to "The King's Fore Court." Originally, it started as a Muslim gathering to pay homage to the paramount ruler of #Ijebuland - The #Awujale, after Eid prayers. Over time, it evolved into a comprehensive cultural festival celebrating unity, traditions, and history - an integral part of Ijebu culture. It showcases music, dance, art, and traditions, drawing people from different parts of the world, especially those of Yoruba origin and Ijebu descent.

The centerpiece of the festival is a stunning parade featuring various age-grade groups known as "#Regberegbe". Each group wears unique traditional attire, reflecting their era and identity. Drummers, trumpeters, and dancers lead the march to the palace.

Nobles and chiefs, dressed in regal attire, ride elaborately adorned horses to the King's 👑 fore court. Praise singers accompany them, extolling their virtues and contributions to the community.

The Awujale's presence symbolises unity and continuity within the Ijebu community. During the festival, he receives homage, blesses participants, and addresses the audience on communal matters.

The Ojude Oba Festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant music, dynamic dance, and rich heritage of the Yoruba people.

The festival continues to be celebrated with pomp and pageantry, honouring The Awujale and celebrating cultural heritage.

The Ojude Oba Festival 2024, perhaps like no other Ojude Oba festival before it, came with its unique glitz, glamour and grace - a tapestry of captivating celebration of the Ijebu culture and tradition in particular and the Yoruba people in general.

The buzz it generated wasn't just at its epicentre - the King's 👑 fore court alone, but the decibels of this enthralling annual soiree rippled centurifugally around Nigeria, Africa and to different parts of the globe via the online portals - that is often as real as onsite living, today.

All the characteristic trappings of the Ojude Oba festival were present in living colours. From the presence of the chief celebrant - The paramount ruler of the Ijebu Kingdom - The Awujale of Ijebu Ode - His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona - Ogbagba II, to the Executive Governor of Ogun State - Dr. Dapo Abiodun, other Royal Fathers, past governors of Ogun State, Captains of Industry, Business Women and Men, Professionals from different fields, Socialites, average lovers of the Ojude Oba festival, drummers, dancers, acrobats, horse-riders etc. all coming from Ijebu, others parts of Nigeria and from different parts of the globe. Smiling, laughing, patting, hugging, dancing and donning lavishly elegant traditional attires made with top-of-the-line premium fabrics such as aso oke, damask, adire etc. complemented with eye-catching accessories - designer headgears, coral beads, gold jewelleries, sunglasses, watches etc. - all speaking opulence.

The horse-riders' entry was nothing but grand. Easily identifiable by their group attires, ostentatiously decorated horses - in groups of popular families in Ijebu Ode.

A particular horse-rider who no sooner than he rode into the King's 👑 fore court caught the lens of most cameras [both still and video], most pair of eyes and the viewing online attendees around the globe was a light-skinned gentleman in his late 50s.

A book launch - "Fifty Fables" written by a Lawyer with specialty in Petrochemical Engineering and Policy turned Author, Mr. Olumide Adekoya. Hosted at the prestigious Nigerian Institute of International Affairs [NIIA].

NIIA has been compared to the United Kingdom's Royal Institute of International Affairs. Popularly known as Chattam House. A British think-tank based in London, England.

With a prerequisite interfacing with all key dignitaries of the event, the author, event planner etc., pre-event, and harvesting necessary information needed for the event from them, I was pumped up and chuffed to deliver the best event of my career yet.

From the early days of my Compere career, I had begun honing and [today I have] eventually mastered the skill of excelling my performance in a previous event with subsequent events.

This was a key goal for me at this event - performing better at this event than I did at my immediate past event.

Exceeding our client's expectations was another key goal for me at this event.
