Todd Snider is perhaps the quintessential postmodern troubadour, toiling away on the folk and Americana circuits year after year, never gaining a hit yet always growing his audience. For a while, it seemed as though he could ride the post-Nirvana alt-rock wave, but his 1994 debut Songs for the Daily Planet peaked at number 23 on Billboard's Heatseeker chart, with its accompanying single "Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues" not managing to be a novelty fluke. While that very title hints at the humor that distinguishes Snider's catalog, his lively, witty songs also dig emotionally deeper. Sometimes he crested into the charts, but he always maintained an audience devoted to his wry quips and heart-rending ballads, qualities captured on such albums as 2019's Cash Cabin Sessions, Vol. 3 and 2021's First Agnostic Church of Hope and Wonder. 2022 saw the release of the concert LP Live: Return of the Storyteller.

We have been building a room inside Jon Griffin’s tree, just through the little purple door on Todd’s website. There is a television in there.
For over a decade, Todd wanted his own TV station, and he kept after us about how to make it happen. He spent years asking people to keep the cameras rolling and left behind enough footage to keep a station running for a very long time. Whole films and performances, music videos, and the misadventures of what he called “a flamboyantly fucked-up person,” told with perfect rhyme and timing.
Todd was already calling his broadcasts Aimless Television. We’re keeping the name until somebody comes up with a worse one. We think that television belongs inside Todd’s world. It is not YouTube. It is not another app. It is a television inside a tree.
Every visit will begin with the new “Freewheelin’ (Every Day at a Time)” film. The song begins with a man leaving home bound for glory and fighting his way “from just another likely story to a cautionary tale.” He climbs, crashes and sets out looking again.
In August 2025, Todd said the thing he was seeking didn’t exist. “But I guess seeking is fun.”
For the film, we’re going seeking with him. When it ends, the television will keep going. The channel can head off in different directions, running for hours and hours and hours. You do not pick the next video. Aimless does.
“Freewheelin’ (Every Day at a Time)” is out Wednesday, September 16. The door opens at high noon, Central Time. Todd will be on.

My Second Rodeo. October 9.
This is a story about a man who told everybody he was looking for something that didn’t exist.
“But I guess seeking is fun,” he said.
Last September, Todd Snider went back to the Purple Building on 11th Street in East Nashville with an idea he could not shut up about. He called it the sound of country music ten years from now. Country music pulled apart and put back together, slow and swampy, with New Orleans horns.
He believed in it so hard he was planning a double album.
He cut it the old way. The stubborn way. Voice and guitar first. Todd alone in the room. No click track. No band.
Everything else came later, with one instruction:
Follow him.
Wherever the song swerved. Whatever he did with the time. Follow him.
October 1, in an email to his producer:
“i honestly think we’re doing something important that is going to affect this town for a long time.”
October 9:
“ive never been more excited about art i was working on.”
A little over a month later, he was gone.
But here’s the thing about a man who insists on being recorded first.
He was still there.
On every song. His voice and guitar out front, leading. He had left emails, voice memos, demos. A whole map.
So his band went back into the Purple Building and did what Todd had asked them to do.
They followed him.
The song where he found that sound is called “Solid Country Gold,” and it is out today.
My Second Rodeo arrives October 9, one year to the day after Todd wrote that he had never been more excited about the art he was making. Two days before his 60th birthday.

The song finds him on the other side of a breakup, looking back at what went wrong, and singing, “high, lonesome and then some / still looking for someone looking for someone like me.”
“Even cheaper than free. A song is all that anybody ever got outta fallin for a guy like me,” Snider says of the song.
Recorded at home in February, the track features TS overdubbing triplets on his Epiphone and playing live on Aaron Lee Tasjan’s 1975 Gibson ES-335 through Rob Crowell’s Garnet Stencil Amp.
A new photo series by Angelina Castillo, shot where the record was made, captures Todd in the space that shaped the album.
Alongside the single comes a new High, Lonesome hoodie, with signed CDs and LPs also available for pre-order in the official shop.

“While We Still Have a Chance,” the first single co-written with Chris Robinson, is available now.
Produced by Aaron Lee Tasjan, Robbie Crowell, and Joe Bisirri, the record is a stripped-down, juke-joint album of nine tracks, each steeped in the blues.
This release is accompanied by exclusive photos from Stacie Huckeba, capturing Todd at his home where he recorded the album with an ace band, including Tasjan on electric guitar, Sterling Finlay on electric bass, and Robbie Crowell on drums.
Todd says: “Recently, I heard someone say ‘If you’re not angry, you’re not paying attention,’ so I tried it and so far so good. These are songs seeking soul, soul mate, maker, making out and mercy. The muse for this record was the sound of it. We made it on purpose.”
