Australia Storm Chasing

Australian storm chaser & forecaster based in Brisbane, Queensland. ⛈️⚡🌪️

Gday, my name is Matt ☺️I mainly chase storms around South East Queensland but I sometimes chase in different states or areas when there's a decent setup. Along with storm chasing videos, I also post forecast videos, severe weather updates and community posts throughout the season. 🌩️

I've had a passion for storms and meteorology since 2019, started storm chasing in December 2023, and started this channel in January 2025. I'm always trying to improve my forecasting and hopefully capture Australia's best storms.⛈️

My goal is to one day be a well known forecaster/chaser who gets reliable and consistent information to people and helps keep people safe from severe weather. ⚡️

Thanks for checking out the channel and I hope you enjoy the videos! Happy chasing ❤️

Wow! What an outbreak for the early storm season in QLD today! I captured some lightning on my drone so expect a video soon! Currently a storm heading north east situated just to the north of Dalby is warned for damaging winds and large hailstones. Stay safe, Cheers ☺️⚡️

ATTENTION SEQLD, CENTRAL QLD, AND NE NSW! Storms are possible today with the risk of damaging winds and large hail. Currently cloud cover is over the SEQLD region but after it moves offshore, storm development should start. The storms will be very isolated so some places will get hit while other places will get nothing at all. I would recommend keeping an eye on the radar and warnings in CQLD, SEQLD, and NENSW from 12pm onwards. Cheers ☺️⚡️

Some storms (some possibly severe) are possible across central/southeastern QLD and NENSW on Tuesday the 6th of October. Areas that could be impacted are Brisbane, Gold Coast, Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast, Longreach, Roma, and Coffs Harbour (there are many other places I didn’t mention but if you’re in the red outline you have a storm chance). Conditions are decent for some severe storms as of now - I will post when the forecast is more certain. Cheers, Matt ☺️⚡️

VERY STRONG storms embedded in a squall line are heading into eastern NSW now. They are currently warned for damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rain. There is lots of lightning activity and a tornado was spotted in Ulladulla earlier today. Stay safe, these storms are NOT to be messed with. Cheers, Matt 🌪️⚡️

Now that it is October, it is heating up a lot across Australia and storms are starting to show up on the forecast across all states and territories. For cities like Brisbane and Sydney, storms are finally going to start happening soon before things really get going in November. Cheers, Matt ⚡️☺️

Australia Storm Chasing

Storm signals are finally showing up in SEQLD/NENSW for the first few weeks of October. The ECMWF has some notable storms in SEQLD/NENSW on October 7th, 11th, and 12th (with the 11th and 12th being particularly strong). Being this is still far out, the forecast for these storms will change a lot but it is a sign that forecast models are starting to pick up storms on the forecast for SEQLD/NENSW as we head into mid spring and moisture + heat increases. Cheers, Matt. ⚡️☺️

Heads up! A severe thunderstorm with large hail, heavy rain, and damaging winds is moving through the western Sydney area right now. It has been warned by the BOM and is tracking north east with confirmed hail. Stay safe on the roads and keep checking radar and warnings if you’re in the west Sydney area. ⚡️

Cheers, Matt ☺️
