What do you do with a 15-hour layover in Oman? ✈️🇴🇲

We decided we definitely weren't spending it at the airport!
On our way from Italy to Malaysia, we had a long stop in Muscat, so we arranged a guide and turned our layover into a full day exploring Oman.

We visited the incredible Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, drove through the mountains to Nizwa, tasted Omani halwa and different varieties of dates at the souk, learned about traditional clothing and khanjars (Luca LOVED those 😂), and explored Nizwa Fort and all the clever traps that were once used to protect it.

Were we exhausted after an overnight flight? YES! 😴 We even used some of the drive to power nap, and by the afternoon we had to change our original itinerary because the heat and lack of sleep were catching up with us.

But would we do it again? Absolutely!

🇲🇳 One of our most unforgettable adventures in Mongolia, now revised! 🦌

This week I revisited our journey deep into Northern Mongolia to spend time with the Tsaatan reindeer herders. And wow… reading it brought everything back. ❤️

A 12-hour sleeper train, two days driving off-road through the Mongolian countryside, camping in the wilderness, cars stuck in the mud, millions of mosquitoes 😂, and finally a 6-hour horseback ride into the Taiga.

And then we were there.
Surrounded by reindeer, learning about a way of life completely different from ours, watching Cosimo try to milk a reindeer, Luca making everyone stop to play in a tiny patch of snow, and sharing an experience that our family still talks about today.
It was definitely not an easy journey, but it remains one of the most incredible experiences we’ve had traveling the world.

🇧🇹 REVISED BLOG: Horse Trekking in Bhutan with Kids

When we returned to Bhutan for the second time, we wanted to experience a different side of the country. And somehow that turned into horse trekking through the mountains with our three kids! 🐴

We weren’t experienced riders, Luca was only turning 4, it was the middle of winter, and a snowstorm completely changed our plans… but it became one of the most unforgettable experiences of our travels.

Three days on horseback taught us a lot about trusting the horses, trusting our kids and being willing to change the plan when needed.

🇧🇳 Our Brunei Girls’ Trip

This trip wasn’t originally supposed to be just the two of us. But thanks to some not-so-great planning on my part 😂 and flight prices that suddenly went way up, Emma and I ended up heading to Brunei on our own.

And what a special few days it turned out to be. ❤️
We explored beautiful mosques, walked through Kampong Ayer, searched for proboscis monkeys in the mangroves, tried local food, and discovered a country we knew very little about.

But more than anything, I loved having this unexpected time with Emma. Sometimes you don’t have to plan those special one-on-one moments with your kids; you just have to embrace them when they happen.

Bhutan was one of the first countries we visited when we started traveling the world, and it ended up becoming one of those places we just couldn’t forget.

On this first trip, we spent a week discovering the Kingdom of Bhutan with our kids, learning about Gross National Happiness, experiencing its Buddhist traditions, trying the food, hiking to Tiger’s Nest, and getting our first glimpse into what makes this little Himalayan country so unique.

We loved it so much that just 14 months later, we came back for 21 days! ❤️

🌿 New revised blog post!
After spending much of our time on New Zealand's South Island chasing good weather, arriving in Rotorua felt like a fresh start.

The sun finally came out, the days got warmer, and we packed our itinerary with adventure.

Perth completely surprised us.
What we expected to be just a few days at the start of our Australian adventure turned into one of our favorite cities. We loved the relaxed atmosphere, amazing coffee, beautiful parks, family-friendly playgrounds, and the charming streets of nearby Fremantle.
