a weekly reflection on how i relate to creativity 🌸✨
what was meant to be two weeks off YouTube quickly turned into 2 months… but yea, I payed for it because tell me why i was in a funk?! i started wonderdering: is this post-summer blues, or something else?
on this topic i recently saw a reel on IG where a young guy shared that he was going through a tough period in his life marked by existential anxiety. he was just feeling lost and depressed and his dad kept telling him this: “painters paint — get to work.”
he was an artist, but he wasn’t painting. he wasn’t creating. and suddenly it clicked for me. maybe all this time he was feeling so low is because he wasn’t doing the thing he was called to do.
and then it hit me - this was me. so i picked up my camera and filmed a video and it felt like taking a deep breath. how i missed doing this!
therapy and having a great community generally do the heavy lifting when it comes to my mental health, but if I'm not doing the things i'm most passionate about, the things that are part of me, it'll not be long till the dark cloud rears it's ugly head.
so yea, regular breaks from the internet are definitely needed for me and i love whenever i can show up on here with new inspiration and energy. i'm still figuring out how i can balance creativity and carved out time for rest but hey, imma just take y'all on this journey with me - tbh i'm just happy to be here.

hey friends, happy friday! 🤍
just wanted to check in on you all. how has your summer been so far?
i've actually been enjoying this summer so much more than in previous years. one of my favourite moments this week was casting on a new project with/for a friend who's learning to knit. she's making so much progress already, and it's been such a joy getting to share a hobby that means so much to me.
also been trying to make a conscious effort to nurture my creativity instead of constantly chasing my weekly posting schedule. because of that, there won't be a video this week 🥲
upon some reflection i've realised that, i create my best work when i'm creating from a full cup, and sometimes that means stepping away for a week or two so i can come back excited with fresh ideas.

happy new week friends! Hope you had a well rested weekend 🫶🏾
lately I’ve been trying to live intentionally and more in the moment in my mothering, creativity, mindfulness, style etc. and it’s been really rewarding. I feel so much clearer and settled within myself. It doesn’t come easy most of the time and I fail a lot but I’m still showing up in all of these areas anyway! also getting a Brick has been so life changing in getting my social media consumption in check! the decrease in anxiety is so real!

have i already mentioned how happy i am you’re here? 🩷 making videos is only half the fun, the other half is getting to chat with you in the comments.
i wanted to give you a little update on what i’ve been working on these past couple of weeks. i decided to sew the coe trousers by daughter judy, and i finally finished them this week! i can’t wait to share the results (and a little pattern review) with you on friday.

This week has been a bit of a whirlwind. I’m learning that juggling motherhood and creativity isn’t always easy. I love making videos so much, and I never want it to feel forced or become a source of anxiety, so I’m trying to find a healthier balance.
There won’t be a video this week, but I’ll be back soon. I’m choosing to embrace this season instead of just pushing through it.
If you have a child, how do you navigate this tension? I’d truly love to hear what’s helped you.
