Consider Culture is a data first look at American culture, race relations, and the history behind today's headlines. I examine the beliefs, incentives, and policies that shape communities from a conservative, libertarian leaning perspective, and I'm not afraid to challenge the popular narrative, even my own, when the evidence says otherwise.
I cover topics like crime, education, family structure, and public policy, always aiming to inform, not inflame. I've got a lens I look through, but I'd rather follow good data somewhere uncomfortable than defend a position that doesn't hold up.

NOLAN WELLS GRAND JURY REPORT
Key Findings:
Jackson County Grand Jury returned a **unanimous No True Bill** (no indictment) on Sept 18, 2026, after reconvening Sept 14–18.
**Cause of death:** Ruled **UNDETERMINED**, not confirmed drowning. Both the state Medical Examiner AND the family's own independent pathologist agreed on this. "Drowning is a diagnosis of exclusion," meaning they found no other cause, not that drowning was proven.
**No fatal injury found anywhere on his body.** Bruising on the back of his head existed but wasn't fatal. A witness testified under oath he saw Wells slip off a boat around 3:30pm, but couldn't say if he hit his head, and Wells kept socializing normally after.
**Toxicology:** No cocaine, no evidence he ever used it. Alcohol/intoxication levels were NOT reliably testable. The report says decomposition makes toxicology unreliable for that purpose. No BAC number exists in this report.
**Rumors the Grand Jury specifically shot down:**
❌ He was the only Black person on Horn Island that day, false
❌ Organs were withheld from the family's pathologist, false; he confirmed he got everything except the neck structures, which were properly retained for testing
❌ Boat passengers committed a crime against him, called "malicious, false, no truth in fact or evidence"
❌ Viral pool party photos were from that night, they weren't, they were days earlier
❌ An adult supplied him alcohol, he allegedly bought it himself with a fake ID (per the report; underlying evidence not detailed)
**On the public pressure campaign:** DA McIlrath stated publicly that hundreds of threats and harassment incidents, against witnesses, law enforcement, and even a state forensic scientist, traced back to info shared by the Crump legal team, who said they'd keep releasing information "without regard to its source or verification." The DA repeatedly noted she has no legal authority to share active investigation details publicly.
**Cell phone data:** Independently examined by family-hired experts (not just FBI). Final report plus a 261-page Snapchat log didn't arrive until Sept 16, two days AFTER the grand jury had already reconvened.
**Jury makeup:** 23 jurors, ages 27 to 68, 13 men/10 women, 12 white/5 Black/1 Asian/2 Hispanic/2 Native American/1 other. 132 subpoenas issued, 43 witnesses heard.
**No statute of limitations on homicide in MS.** Case can be reopened if credible new evidence surfaces.

Where are the key black intellectual figures that do not rely on emotion that have come up with strong counter arguments for people like Coleman Hughes, Thomas Sowell, Shelby Steele, or Walter E Williams? Figures on the left that have had STAYING power through the years. With developed arguments that have stood the test of time like Sowell, Williams, and McWhorter? Are there any? If so what are their names?

What's good folks? I'm out of town this week. I do have a video I'm working on but it's not completed. In the meantime I would urge you all to take a look at @TheOfficerTatum and his last few videos about Nolan Wells. He went out to Mississippi and Horn Island to give us a visual of what the area looks like as well as talk to one of the gentleman who was a part of the group that traveled in multiple boats to the island with Nolan.
If you want a more balanced perspective as to what may have happened that day in July 4th. This is certainly helpful in that regard.
