Hey Loves! 🖤✨

Come join me for a spiritual breakdown and recap of Spell (2020) starring Omari Hardwick and Loretta Devine!

Although Spell is centered around a Hoodoo framework, the movie goes deeper by exploring how Hoodoo influences Marquis and forces him to confront a belief system he once abandoned. When Marquis finds himself in a terrifying fight for survival, the very spiritual traditions he left behind may become an unexpected part of his journey.

But there’s one major problem… Eloise, an eccentric Hoodoo healer with a hidden agenda. 👀

In this breakdown, I’ll explore the Hoodoo themes, spiritual symbolism, ancestral connections, and deeper messages woven throughout the movie.

So, what happens when the beliefs you walked away from become connected to your survival? And what is Eloise really trying to accomplish?

✨ Let’s break it down!

Hey Loves! 🖤🌙

In this video, I take a deep, thought-provoking look at the horror classic The Serpent and the Rainbow and explore the spiritual and cultural themes woven throughout the film.

I dive into the portrayal of Haitian Vodou, examining how accurately the movie captures—or perhaps distorts—the essence of the religion, its spiritual traditions, rituals, and practices.

I also explore the meaning behind the film’s title, The Serpent and the Rainbow and whether it may carry a deeper spiritual connection to Damballah Wedo, the lwa associated with the serpent and powerful themes of creation, wisdom, and spiritual transformation. Could the title itself be pointing toward Vodou symbolism that goes deeper than what we see on the surface? 🐍🌈

From there, we get into the concept of zombification and the Haitian folklore surrounding the zonbi. How does the traditional Caribbean understanding of the zonbi differ from the way Hollywood and the Western world portray the “zombie”?

I also break down various spiritual elements, rituals, practices, folklore, and symbolism presented throughout the film while examining where Hollywood may have taken creative liberties—or potentially reinforced misconceptions—about Haitian Vodou.

This is more than just a horror movie review. It’s a spiritual, cultural, and folkloric deep dive into The Serpent and the Rainbow, Haitian Vodou, Damballah Wedo, zombification, and the fascinating differences between Caribbean spiritual traditions and their interpretation through a Western lens.

✨ Have you seen The Serpent and the Rainbow?

What are your thoughts on the movie’s portrayal of Haitian Vodou? And do you think there could be a deeper connection between the film’s title and the symbolism associated with Damballah Wedo?

As always, Loves, take what resonates and leave what doesn’t. 🖤🐍🌈

✨ Hey Loves! ✨

I had to sit down and review Leprechaun in the Hood (2000)! 🍀👻🎬

I really enjoyed doing this review because, underneath all the comedy and entertainment, this movie actually touches on some deeper themes — money, fame, greed, power, and fortune — and how the pursuit of these things can ultimately destroy people’s lives and their mindsets.

As entertaining as this movie is, it also gives us something to think about: the love of money can lead people down a destructive path. Sometimes what looks like success on the outside can come with a much heavier price on the inside. 💰🧠✨

So, Loves… what did YOU think about Leprechaun in the Hood? 👀🍀

Much love, peace & blessings,
