New video 08:30 GMT Sunday

Emerging from the storage sidings tunnel the B17 heads a train of fitted vans towards the Main Station where it passes on the through road which give access to the branch. The train then switches to the goods lines and enters the Lower Marshalling Yard by the New Northern Entrance added to the layout last year.
Next, a Class 37 gently rumbles past the marshalling yard and takes the goods lines avoiding the station and heads off to the southern end of Trenholme Junction.
A V2 on an express passenger storms through the Main Station, past the Diesel Shed, Marshalling Yard and Lower East Station without stopping. After the V" has passed a Class 25 passes a similar route with an empty stock train made up parcels van and suburban coaches.
A second Class 25 with a train of early container traffic makes it way across the junction at the south Signal Box at the Main Station and onto the Goods lines and enters the Lower Marshalling Yard again at the new Northern Entrance. The locomotive detaches itself and couples up to a train of beer vans and heads off via the southern marshalling yard entrance.
Another Class 37 with a brake tender drifts down to the reception/despatch roads to pick up a train of Bogie Bolsters with steel plate loads and sets off on a similar path as the previous train.
Trenholme Junction is a 00 gauge Model Railway set in the early to mid 1960's set in the Teesside area of Northern England.

New video today:-
Work on the storage level below the Lower Level at Trenholme Junction has been underway and has been recently completed.
Most of the additional stock acquired over the last couple of years has been stored on the Upper Level of the layout which has been virtually out of use up until now.
The signaling for the Upper Level is to be completed at the south and east end of the layout.
Now all the stock has been removed to the storage sidings its time to clean the track an have a run round to check all is well.
I've set the camera up at the north end of the Upper West Station looking south to just simply watch some trains passing through the station on a grey cloudy day. Below, South Carriage Sidings at the Main station.
Back to the sixties - Yeah Man!

New video today:-
Where it all started for me back in the 1960's growing up next to the line from Darlington to Saltburn.
The four track section between Stockton and Redcar was a very busy place with steelworks galore, chemical works, oil refineries, manufacturing, towns and leisure facilities for the large workforce. The railways were the main transport for all of these activities.
Trenholme Junction was built to recreate the sort of sights I saw when I was eight or nine years old. Its not a accurate scale model of anywhere in particular, but a representation of a time and a place.
I make videos of the layout so that if I make to an old age where I can't do anything else but dribble, I'll have something to look back on and die happy.
The Peak departs from the tunnel mouth (entrance to the new storage yard) and gently eases its train of Iron Ore onto the main goods lines past the Signal Box and the Steam Engine Shed. Continuing its journey, avoiding the Main Station, passing by the Diesel Shed it heads off towards the steelworks.
A four DMU approaches the Main Station from the southern end of the junction. DMU's (Diesel Multiple Units) were the mainstay of all passenger trains in the early to mid sixties in this area.
The DMU stops to unload and load passengers. Setting off, it heads towards the Diesel Shed where it passes another DMU heading in the opposite direction. After departing the Main Station heading south we turn our attention back to the Diesel Shed.
A Robinson with a train of oil tankers passes the shed whilst a V2 with a train of sleeping cars heads towards the long incline from the upper level. The V2 descents the long incline and is held at the signal before the four into junction.
Meanwhile, the Robinson carries on its journey passed the Main Station on the goods lines and along to the south end of the Lower East Station, probably to one of the oil refineries.
Released from the signal check the V2 starts its journey to the Main Station, its final destination. All the coaches on this train are ex-LNER and are new to the layout. A complimentary rake to the new Mk1 set recently shown in another video.
Back to sixties, just watching the trains go by.....

New video today.
British Railways diesels, Marshalling Yard, Model Railway, threatening moving skies, inclines.
We are at the north end of the Lower Marshalling Yard.
D5100 arrives to remove a train of 21ton hoppers, passing the Diesel Motive power Depot and traversing the goods line to the west of the Main Station and off into the distance.
In the meantime, the 08 shunter places a brake van onto a train of empty ICI tankers bound for the Billingham complex.
D5269 arrives, couples up and departs following the hopper train. After passing the Main Station this train then tackles the long incline towards the North Upper Branch Junction.
Crossing over the junction onto the branch line through the Upper North Station towards the ICI sidings at Haverton Hill where the train will be loaded.
Places mentioned are real but connections are fictious.

British Railways OO gauge Four Track Upper Level re-opens. Very Long Views Black 5 Engineers Train. (Sunday 08:30 GMT)

The layout has been undergoing a transformation for the last four weeks and therefore no new videos.
The initial design of Trenholme Junction never included a fiddle yard. My idea was to have all the rolling stock 'in view', as in real life and to this end lots of carriage sidings and marshalling yards to store the vehicles.
Additional stock has been added to over the last couple of years and although some 'out of the area' old vehicles have been retired, there's not enough physical room on the layout to add more capacity. To this end I have relented and built a lower baseboard underneath the existing, with a long ramp and currently twelve long sidings. A further five will be added soon.
Most of the rolling stock had been 'parked on the Upper Level. Moving it for videoing was too much of a chore and that's why I've not made any from this angle for quite a while.
Now the new facility is in place the Upper Level is now back as a running entity.
This is a short video for those who've never seen it running, of a Black 5 with an engineers train make a final inspection before the route is officially re-opened.
A video of the storage facility will be finished shortly including testing the 40 odd feet ramp during and after construction.

No new video this weekend, but this one described below will be published on Christmas Day at 08:30 GMT

Model Railway Very Long Views, all new rolling stock, Parcels, Mixed Goods and fabulous Sleeper

All the rolling stock in this video is new to Trenholme Junction.
The trains run on the lower level and complete about 90% of the full circuit. There are many new camera angles.
Thompson L1 is first on the scene with a mixed rake of parcel vans. The rake was bought in an auction lot and came with three blue vans which I intended to sell on because strictly speaking the colour did not appear until a little later from the period modelled.
I remember reading an article from a guy who worked in the wagon works at York who said there was some vehicles painted in different non standard colours before the corporate blue was introduced as practice pieces, so, being so close to York I've decided to keep them.
As a side note, the first two rakes of Mark 2 coaches were delivered in maroon and green liveries, it was too late to change the colours when blue was adopted and they were then resprayed.
Next on the scene is a V2 with a set of mainly Mk1 stock on a semi-fast passenger train which passes quickly through both stations without stopping.
A truly mixed goods train follows hauled by a Class 45. In mainly pristine condition painted in bauxite it makes an impressive sight as it rattles past.
A Class 37 is the next train conveying a train of 21 ton coal hopper wagons. A Brake Tender is pushed by the locomotive, adding braking force to the lighter diesels when pulling unfitted stock.
Another Peak arrives on the scene gently easing a sleeper service into the Main Station. This eleven vehicle train has a full brake van, three first class sleeper coaches, buffer car, three second class sleeper coaches and three Newton Chambers Car Transporters.
Once arriving at the Main Station, an awaiting 08 Shunter then removes the Car Transporters to the unloading ramps and the remaining train then makes off to the carriage sidings for servicing.
Thanks to everyone who has supported the channel with their comments throughout the year and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

A new video published today:-

Very Large OO Marshalling Yard with Class 25 shunting perishables train.
The Lower Marshalling Yard at Trenholme Junction has seven main sidings each over 33 feet (10 metres) long.
The headshunt is over 9 feet (2.8 metres).
The sidings can accommodate over 400 wagons with a further 80 in the adjacent Reception/ Dispatch road.
In this video we watch D5212 assembling a train or perishable goods wagons, viewed from the nearby Lower East station.

This Sundays video :-

Trenholme Junction Testing new Rolling Stock - 1

I've made a big effort to add rolling stock to the layout which were running in the area (Teesside) depicted by the layout (the 1960's).
There were lots of similar wagons in large rakes making up many of the trains feeding the steel and chemical works as well as the docks and engineering factories.
My vision, when building the layout was to portray this activity and this endeavour is underway. There has been a couple of hundred wagons added on the layout recently and in this video they are on their test runs. All the goods wagons in this video are new to the layout.
A couple of expresses also run through for the speed freaks.

Trenholme Junction 00 Model Railway - Marshalling Yard modifications

In this video, two trains follow the new routes to demonstrate how the modifications work.
When I designed Trenholme Junction I wanted to have a full size Marshalling Yard capable of handling full size prototypal trains (thirty plus wagons) and achieved this on the Lower Marshalling Yard.
From the headshunt to the end of the sidings buffers is over 40 feet (over 12 metres).
From the end of the buffers to the end of the Reception/Despatch road is about 30 feet (9 metres ish).
Trains are deposited in the Reception/Despatch road and are then processed from the south end of the yard via the headshunt. This system is fine and works well, however it is a little clumsy, if for example, the train you wish to shunt is at the back of others in the Reception/Despatch road.
To resolve this issue and to make operations better a crossover has been installed at the north end of the Reception/Despatch road. The crossover links the first and second sidings to the Reception/Despatch road. A double slip in the centre of the crossover allows trains to arrive and depart from either of the first or second siding without the need to traverse the headshunt.
The crossover also creates two short sidings at the north end of the yard, currently used for brake van storage.
Doing this modification creates virtually two extra running roads out of the two sidings, but they can still be used as sidings. To compensate for the potential 'loss' a new 18 feet (5.6 metres) siding has been added at the east side of the yard from the southern end.
An additional short siding has also been added at this end for Brake Van storage.

This Sunday's video at 08:30 BST

Trenholme Junction 00 Model Railway - Mixed Traffic 21
Its been a long while since the last video in this series.
More new rolling stock on the junction.
Three scenes, from the Diesel Shed, looking north across the Lower Marshalling Yard and south from the lower East station.
A class 20 with a load of bogie bolsters and sheeted loads eases her way across the south junction heading north.
The class 37, with its brake tender eases a train of loaded plate wagons in the opposite direction, running beside a Clayton on suburban passenger duty.
A B17 with a train of fitted vans overtakes the 37 on the fast line through the station.
J15 65356 leaves the Main Station with a parcels train, followed by a D16 with a train of brake vans.
Finally, the 08 shunter eases sone ICI tankers out from the headshunt into the dispatch road at the Lower Marshalling Yard.
Yeah Man.....
