Forage Drops provides timely information about forages and livestock-related topics and aim to help farmers improve the production, profitability, sustainability, and resilience of their forage and livestock systems. Dr. Liliane Severino da Silva is a Forage Agronomist with experience in forage-based systems in Brazil and USA. Currently, she works at Clemson University in South Carolina. The content is designed to provide information from beginners to advanced levels and support those who wish to learn more about agriculture.

Please see the attached report containing the forage mass and quality results for the forage grasses and mixtures we had in Blackville, SC on our cool-season annual demo plots this past season.
Those of you who were in attendance saw these plots during the field day on April 1. We have commercial varieties and breeding lines from several partners who donated the seeds to carry these efforts in 2025/26.
To our SC producers: please see the results and do not hesitate to reach out with questions. Also, if you have questions about variety recommendations, please reach out to our extension agents or me ahead of season.
ps: I will be updating the SC cool-season annual forage recommendation publication soon and posting next week.
