📉 Today’s Market
· Stocks started higher, helped by lower oil prices, but ended lower after the Fed raised interest rates by 0.25% and hinted more hikes could be coming.
· The Dow fell 1.2%, the S&P 500 slipped 0.5%, and the Nasdaq was almost flat.
· Oil dropped as much as 4.6% after news that a damaged Saudi pipeline could soon return to service.
· Some tech names like Intel and Nvidia gained, but it wasn’t enough to keep the market up.
· The Fed’s rate hike was expected, but its latest forecast showed most officials expect at least one more hike this year. That’s what worried investors late in the day.
Why it matters: Higher rates can make borrowing more expensive and slow the economy, which often pressures stocks. Markets will keep watching the Fed closely.
