Honestly didn't believe I would ever get to the point where studios actually noticed the channels and videos, but I couldn't be happier about the fact that it was Laika! This is cool as fuck, I'm not even gonna try to hide how excited and happy I was when I received this email. This is all thanks to YOU GUYS! Still dreaming of the day that I get invited to the premiere of one of these animated movies by the studio, or to get to work with one of these animation studios. I'm aiming to get an invitation to Beyond the Spider-Verse's premiere next year, do you guys think we can make it happen? 👀

A quick reminder, MAKE SURE TO GO WATCH WILDWOOD IN THEATERS ON OCTOBER 23rd! No they did not tell me to say this, or to even mention the gift online, but hey, I had to. Let's all support original animation ❤️

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! 🥳

First off I want to say thanks a ton for the reception on my latest video, I appreciate it so much. It's still hard to fathom how many of you enjoy & support the content ❤️🥺

Over the last few months I've been upping the production quality by expanding the team, hiring a new editor, getting some help with research, and I want to continue to improve the content as much as possible. My dream has always been to become the MKBHD of animation video essays, and although I still have a LONG way to go to get there, (and it's ambitious af) I'm trying to continuously take steps in that direction. Because of that, I've decided to launch memberships on the channel so that I can provide more value to you all and you guys can help me continue to improve the production quality if you want! (Also want to increase upload frequency but that's been tough to do haha)

This is one of the best ways to truly support the channel and help me put out better videos, so any of you that decide to join will be changing my life bit by bit. And my promise is that I will continue to work my ass off to make this channel the best place for video essays about all types and forms and studios of animation.

Thoughts on the new Ray Gunn Trailer?!

I really enjoyed it. This is probably one of the movies I was looking forward to the most this year, and the trailer does make it seem like it has potential. I LOVE the fact that it's a retro-futuristic neo-noir alien detective movie, that's already a sign this is going to be unique and different from everything we've been getting - FINALLY. Love the dynamic Ray seems to have with his colleague, and the writing seems pretty decent, with some good lines throughout the trailer.

Honestly the music in the first few seconds of the trailer immediately reminded me of the Incredibles. Some of the score is extremely nostalgic, which I love. This might be a hot take though, I wish they showed less in the trailer. I LOVE the that Ray seems to end up falling for Venus, but it would've been so cool to discover that while watching the movie, instead of already having that in the trailer.

Another thing that bothered me is having Scarlett Johansson as Venus, I'm sorry I just don't think she's a great voice actor. I wish we got a more unique performance, cause it's hard to not just hear Scarlett Johansson.

That being said, I'm going to parrot what most people have been saying, this OBVIOUSLY deserves a theatrical release, it's a no-brainer.

I fucking KNEW it could make $100M+ 😎🥳 This is honestly a massive haul for the movie, with most people doubting it could get this far. It'll probably end around 110M-120M.

Ketchup only paid 50M, plus an estimated 10M in marketing according to Deadline, while they sold off the international rights for 20M. Therefore they're down around $40M for the movie, and it would have to probably hit around $80M domestically to break even for them. Right now the movie is at around 55M domestically, so it'll be hard to get that high. Nevertheless, they also have the rights to revenue from streaming. That, along with other ancillary revenue should make this a profitable purchase for them.

Regardless, for a movie that was shelved, this is genuinely a MASSIVE success.
