Minnesota 1st was the first volunteer infantry regiment in the civil war. They fought in almost every major battle. Outnumbered 5-1 at Gettysburgs, 262 Minnesotans held the line in the most pivotal battle of the war, leading to the US victory.

Then they took Virginia’s battle flag and it still sits in Minnesota’s Capitol today, despite Virginia continuing to beg for it back.

We won. We don’t care who second place takes seriously.
