Journaling mode: ON. There is something therapeutic about putting pen to paper at the end of a long day. No screens, no notifications, just pure thoughts, a warm cup of tea, and the smooth flow of a fountain pen. For me, this is the ultimate way to unwind, clear my mind, and practice a little daily mindfulness.
I found the Holy Grail of typewriters! Today I was browsing a local flea market and spotted a very familiar case. I opened it up and couldn't believe my eyes: a beautiful Olivetti Lettera 22 in excellent condition, priced at only €25! I tested it on the spot and all the mechanisms seemed to work perfectly. Even if it had minor flaws, I couldn't just leave it there. Once I got home for a proper inspection, I realized it only needs a quick clean, a bit of oil, and a few rubber gaskets replaced. But the surprises didn't end there! It turns out this beauty features the rare, smaller Élite typeface, which significantly boosts its value. To top it all off, I checked the serial number and confirmed it is from 1950—making it one of the very first models ever produced! Talk about a legendary find for next to nothing.
Take a look at this beauty. This Royal typewriter was the very first one I ever bought, all the way back in 2012.Of all the machines in my collection, this is the one I’m most attached to. It’s the exact machine that made me fall in love with typewriters in the first place! There is just something magical about the tactile feel of the keys and the sound of the carriage return that modern keyboards can never replace.
What about you? What was the first piece of vintage gear that got you hooked on your passion? Let me know in the comments!
A fond memory from last year, I miss these days of calm and tranquility. Every now and then, you need to escape the daily grind and find yourself in a place where you can regenerate your soul.
Cleaned and lubricated. I also cleaned and polished its original case, and now it looks like new, straight from the factory. I'm just waiting for the ink ribbons I ordered yesterday!
