Its Sunday, so time for a Sigma Seflie. Took myself off to Hengistbury Head and the beach huts at Mudeford today to see what I could capture with this monster! The Sigma 200 f/2 DG OS Sports lens! Look at the little BF camera on the back trying really hard to look more beefy than it really is. Still it did the job superbly! A cracking beast of a lens this and I tried for the second time to record a review video of it. If it makes the cut then it will appear on my YouTube channel pretty soon 🙂

Absolutely chuffed to bits that my blog about my time with the Sigma 200mm f2 DG OS | Sports lens has been published on the SIGMA UK website. I've been challenged by Sigma to use this lens in my landscape photography, but decided to give it a trial first during the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show on the first morning.

So, so grateful to you my YouTube audience. Last weeks TogTalk video relating to the advantages (or not) of being a member of a Camera Club went bonkers over the weekend accruing over 350 hours of watch time alone, and over 100 new subscribers. There were a handful of comments relating to where and how the content for the video was created. I have taken those comments seriously and I will make a future adjustment to how I vary the locations for recording the TogTalk series.

I have just spent the last couple of days doing my bit to help the team in the Art & Photography Exhibition tent at this years Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show. It was an excellent event with plenty of extremely positive visitor engagement, and a good helping of sales too. Now the show is finished I'm delighted to be able to state that my image of seabirds at Hartland Quay was selected in First place in the Monochrome category. The image also sold and will soon be admired by its new owners.

Arnos Vale is a Victorian cemetery near Bristol which fell into disrepair in the 1980s. After a compulsory purchase by the city council it is now maintained by volunteers who are gradually reclaiming and revealing the 45 acre site. Nature has well and truly taken over, making for a fascinating collection of stone, trees, bushes, and wild flowers. On a bright sunshine Saturday I visited this location with my full spectrum infrared converted Sony A7 camera and the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN to see what I could find. It is an amazing, sobering, but also very interesting place to visit if only to find and read the 200 year old inscriptions - the first burial here was on the 29th July 1839!

Sigma Selfie Sunday strikes again! 🙂 Very fortunate to have been invited out on Friday evening to a local piece of woodland and, because of the sunshine weather the UK is experiencing at the moment used the opportunity to continue to explore my (new to me) full spectrum IR converted Sony A7 with the excellent Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens. What did I learn? Well, just like visible light photography, even IR needs light on a subject! Lovely evening to be out 🙂

It's Sunday Sigma Selfie time, but this time with a sample! 🙂 Spent an interesting few hours yesterday at Arno's Vale near Bristol - an overgrown Victorian Cemetery. In the bright sunshine it was an excellent infrared location and despite the 30+ (degrees C) temperatures really enjoyed my time there. This time I took a (new to me) Sony A7 that had been converted to full spectrum infrared partnered with the excellent Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens. Definitely a place to return to in cooler temperatures🙂

Extremely proud to have been featured in a blog on the official Sigma UK website with some words of experience regarding infrared digital photography. I've recently had the opportunity to loan the excellent SIGMA UK Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN lens which I used with a Sony camera converted to full spectrum infrared on a recent trip up to the North West of England. With this combination I managed to create a variety of images that I am extremely pleased with and are featured in the article.
