Still alive! Here's news on what's been up and future plans.
Great news is that I was able to build a new gaming PC before the hiked AI prices really hit the market. (mostly)
The new rig has a great processor, GPU, and 32GB of RAM, and I also got myself an Elgato 4K X to replace my old one.
I can play pretty much any game at 1440p with mods now, or edit 4K gameplay with no lag and render videos with 30x the speed. I'm very happy about it!
Bad news is that I still need to save and wait for new hard drives before I can start recording. I've got almost 2 TB of storage available, which might sound like a lot, but for recording 4k videos at 60fps at a high bitrate, then keeping backups - it's just not possible until I get some more drives, which I can expect to get at least something around Christmas.
Until I am able to record, I will be re-playing the KH franchise on my PS5 some more, while also making notes and outlines on how to handle the guides and making advice bubbles in Photoshop.
I'll notably be working on the Re: Chain of Memories guide I never finished before anything else. After that, I will begin working on outlines for Birth by Sleep, Dream Drop Distance, Kingdom Hearts 3 - hoping to start recording and get guides out starting early next year before they drop KH4.
Thanks for the continued support, stay safe. πβοΈ
Hello, everyone! I feel like we're overdue for an update, apologies for that! I've been loving my new house and adapting to the new lifestyle. It was a choice between getting my own house or a new gaming computer, and I feel like I made the right one! But you better bet I've been saving my money and researching for the best computer components, recording equipment, software and all that jazz - and I've got lots of plans for the future π
The channel is NOT dead π , I will eventually come back at 1,000% capacity!! π₯π₯ It's just that saving for this stuff (while also paying bills and groceries) has obviously been a long road β but I am patient and my passion for editing my favorite video games is something that will never go away. At this rate, I am confident that I will start uploading content and even finish all of the the Kingdom Hearts guides before 4 is released.
Before I got the house, I first lost my saves for Chain of Memories which meant I'd have to replay Sora's Story to even record Reverse/Rebirth β I was so agitated that I dropped it for a while. So I decided to try emulators, with my main focus on Jak & Daxter if you recall, and also games like Ratchet & Clank on the PS2 β but now my PC can't even edit or render videos without crashing. Can't complain honestly. Surprised my PC still works for a potato game like Half-Life.
I've been playing ALL of the Kingdom Hearts games on the PS5 (as well as many other games but I'll only focus on Kingdom Hearts when I return until I finish the franchise).
With how much Youtube has changed in the past decade, especially with policies regarding humor, music and copyright, I have recently realized that I'll have to tone down on a lot of the meme edits I used to do as well as other things. (Not entirely though)
I've also been reading all of your comments, both positive and negative β Some of you love that I skip cutscenes as you just want to get to the game advice, and others clearly don't as you want to view the real experience. It's also been pointed out that many videos lack proper timestamps and the advice bubbles are sometimes too condensed or cover something on the screen. That and I also completely forgot to make a Speedster or Unchanging Armor guide for the first game. Please continue to give any forms of positive or negative criticism, it helps me shape how to manage my channel in the future.
I originally skipped cutscenes for the Kingdom Hearts guides because in my first attempt, my Dive to the Heart guide was removed for the music. I got paranoid about losing the channel that maybe I got a bit overzealous for skipping cutscenes. I think I can see now that cutscenes and in-game music are typically fine, unless it's from Rockstar (lol). For Kingdom Hearts, they seem to only mute the video for songs like βSimple and Cleanβ or βPassionβ.
Since I love the first 2 games so much and have already done this three times (for those that have been subscribed for a long enough time to remember) β I may completely re-do the guides for Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix after I finish the guides for the other games in the franchise. There's some improvements to be made and it would be fun for me.
After I am completely finished with Kingdom Hearts, the very next step for me is re-making my Ty the Tasmanian Tiger guide. It was originally recorded on a PS2 with some of the biggest challenges of my early Youtube career, but is now available in HD on Steam and the PS5 (and I've been loving it) With Ty 2 and Ty 3 also being remastered, I'll probably tackle those as well.
When I eventually return, I've decided that I will release the following forms of content in an attempt to not only adapt to how Youtube is nowadays policy-wise but also make the audience happy:
1. Walkthrough / Guide
(For the audience that just needs help with the game)
- Will typically stride for 100% completion of the game, on the hardest difficulty when possible. Most cutscenes will be cut, with primary focus on game advice. No commentary, on-screen text used instead when needed. If the game is short and studio is lenient on copyright, may include cutscenes. Some music tracks must be cut or muted to avoid copyright.
2. Let's Play / Gameplay
(For the audience that wants to watch the games as they are) - Mostly unedited, hours long, only remove cutscenes or mute music that would copyright strike the channel. If I decide to play and record, but have no interest in making a guide, it may also go here.
3. Collectible Guide
(For those that need a specific in-game collectible.)
- Short videos edited only for collectibles and their locations, likely a whole set.
4. Achievement & Trophy Guides
(For those that need help with a specific achievement or trophy.) - Short videos edited likely for one achievement or trophy unless making a guide for every game's trophies in one video would be relatively short.
For example, there will be a walkthrough on Kingdom Hearts III, as well as a full unedited Let's Play of the game, and a series of videos dedicated to collectibles as well as trophies / achievements. All videos will have proper timestamps to help you navigate.
So to sum up, when I come back, I will finish the Kingdom Hearts franchise, wrapping up with remaking the walkthroughs for the first two games. Afterwards, I will tackle re-making the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger guide and likely the next two games. After that.. the original Ratchet & Clank trilogy was never properly ported to modern consoles like most of the PS2 classics were - so maybe them. But when I get back into things, my first primary focus is Kingdom Hearts. π₯
I want to thank you all for your continued support and watching my videos, it helps put food on the table and gives me a purpose I enjoy greatly. Hope you are all staying safe! ππ
UPDATE β NEW HOUSE ππ₯π
Sorry for the hiatus and lack of comments, especially when it seemed I was really getting back into things. In my last post, I mentioned I was installing a fence into my backyard, which was originally just for my dogs so I thought it would be a done deal in a short time β but suddenly because of the amount of space and a lucky loan I got, I decided to buy my own house on our family's property and spent the past six months putting in insulation, drywall, electrical, paint, floors, etc. π₯ It has a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
I spent most of Thanksgiving moving in. I'll post some pictures for those curious to see. I'm SO happy with it! I used to live in a one bedroom shack (with a dog and three cats) so this is a monumental improvement!! π
As soon as I get settled and everything prepared, I plan to get back to making videos! After 6 months of not doing any kind of technical work, I'm really rusty so I need to do my equipment and quality tests all over again, and then re-play the games I was in the process of making walkthroughs for... and start those walkthroughs I started from scratch. It'll be a long process but I'll have fun and more importantly, be comfortable. π
For those who have been subscribed for years, you know I go on hiatuses all the time, so this wasn't new for you β and if I'm being honest, some of those breaks were out of pure laziness, but this time I was doing something really important for myself and even though it might take a while to get things back in gear, I'll soon be back on here full tilt with guides for games old and new. β€
YouTube aside, my next project is to invest my money on building a new PC, which would allow me to make guides for newer-gen games without difficulty on the PC itself. But before that, I gotta get my dog fixed and finish the plumbing in my house. I'm doing great, thanks for all your continued support, I wish you all happy holidays and and an early merry Christmas!! πβ
Update - The quality testing was finished about a week ago and I've start over the Jak and Daxter walkthrough like I wanted to. I finished recording and editing for the first 7 videos, with the most recent 8th one still being edited, which is the Lost Precursor City at Rock Village. I had to put everything on pause for a while for two reasons, one that I'm installing a large fence into my backyard, and the second that I accidently broke my PS controller, so I need to order a new one. Sorry for the delay, but it should only be about a week before I get back into it. Enjoy the rest of May, i'll update you again soon <3
Update! - I'm in the end-phase of quality testing the PCSX2 Playstation 2 Emulator and all of my render settings, with the main game of focus being Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. If the video quality is noticeably better with the emulator, then I may start the walkthrough from scratch (Which is something I did with Kingdom Hearts 1.5 many years ago after the upgrade from PS3 to PS4).
Bad news is it seems I somehow lost all my saves for Chain of Memories on KH 1.5 HD. This means I'll have to beat the game as Sora again in order to get to Reverse / Rebirth. Of course, I'm willing to do this but it means it'll be a while before that happens, so I'm putting it on the back burner for now.
In my spare time, I've also been playing through Jak & Daxter and have gotten to where I left off in the original walkthrough. I plan to play through the entire game again before recording, to ensure the least amount of hiccups while recording for the walkthrough.
That's about it for now, I'll try to keep you guys updated more often. Much love. β€
Hey everyone, thanks for all of the continued support since I've been gone. I was able to recover my Steam account that I had lost several years ago, which had dozens of games on it. With OBS, and I can start making videos for PC games.
However, I still need to upgrade my PC in order to record guides for more demanding games, especially 4k videos and popular titles.
In the past, I used a capture card to record gameplay directly from my Playstation consoles. While I will still do this with some games, this has become very impractical and difficult, so I've been brushing up on emulators, which means I can start making guides for old games I do not own the consoles to using ROMs and OBS as the recording software.
I used my totally legal resources to get the latest most stable versions of Adobe Photshop for editing my advice bubbles, as well as Vegas Pro for rendering the videos.
With emulators, my current goal is to continue and finish the guides for Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and Sly Cooper.
After that, I will take the work to finally finish the Chain of Memories guide as well as make an official Kingdom Hearts III walkthrough, using my capture card on my PS5.
I will be taking the next few weeks testing all of my software and hardware, as well as doing several quality tests. Once I'm sure everything is working fine, I'll start making videos again.
To keep myself from being overwhelmed, I'll be making them on a slow, schedulded basis instead of having them all published as soon as available.
Again, thank you guys so much for the support and I hope everyone is doing good. See ya guys soon.
Still alive guys! β€ Sorry for not keeping you updated, but it's usually personal life bs that keeps me from making videos. After losing my email a while back, my steam account was hacked and i lost all my games, and it kinda made me lose the will to make videos for a while. During that time though, I got a 4K TV, a PS5, and was fortunate enough to move into my own house. I'm still settling in but the main thing that prevents me from making videos is that my PC isn't good enough to record or render 4K content, and it will honestly be a long time before I can afford to upgrade or replace it, but that's where I'm at and figured I'd be honest with you guys.
I still average 60 - 100 thousand views a month and get regular comments praising my work, which really helps boost my morale and all that youtube revenue goes to helping my mom with bills or groceries β€ I'd like to personally thank all the new and old viewers and subscribers who have continued to watch, comment, and simply support me. Thank you for continuing to be patient with me for those waiting for new content. Much love. - Anthony
