Instagram's free video editor just landed on the Mac, and an AI agent can build your rough cut.

Edits is Instagram's standalone video editor, launched on phones in 2025. The Mac version arrived today, free for Apple silicon Macs, M1 or later.

The desktop app has a multi-track timeline, keyframes, color wheels and curves, imported LUTs, and unlimited automatic captions. Exports go up to 4K with no watermark, and videos can post straight to Instagram.

In Settings, a Model Context Protocol switch lets an AI agent drive the editor's tools. Pick your agent, Meta's Muse or another one, and it can assemble a rough cut. You open the project and finish it yourself.

One gap at launch: projects cannot move between the phone app and the Mac app yet. Instagram says that is in development, with weekly updates planned.

I edit in Final Cut Pro, and Edits will not replace it for long videos. For short clips, a free editor that hands the tedious first pass to an agent is a real time saver.

The first Android XR glasses open for preorder on November 12, and nobody will name the price.

They are called Intelligent Eyewear. Samsung builds the hardware, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster did the frames, and Google's Android XR runs on them, with a camera, speakers, and Gemini by voice or a tap on the frame. There is no display in the lens.

Warby Parker put the date in its third quarter earnings release today. Co-CEO Dave Gilboa said orders start November 12, with deliveries during the holiday season. Warby stores are booking demo slots now. Gentle Monster has not set a date for its frames, and no seller has named a price yet.

Samsung lists a Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip and up to nine hours of battery, with up to seven more full charges in the case. The glasses pair with Android phones and iPhones.

Meta has had camera glasses mostly to itself. This is a real rival, sold in stores people already buy glasses from, and the November 12 price decides how real it gets.

Nintendo just told holiday shoppers the Switch 2 is not getting more expensive, at least for now.

The Switch 2 is Nintendo's current console. It already went up once in the US, from $450 to $500 in September, as memory chip prices climbed. At today's earnings briefing, president Shuntaro Furukawa said Nintendo is not currently considering another increase.

His reason is supply. Furukawa said there has been no major change in the memory situation, and Nintendo can secure enough chips to hit its 16.5 million unit forecast for the year ending March 2027.

The pressure is still real. Nintendo's own forecast already counts about 100 billion yen in added component and tariff costs, Furukawa warned next year will be worse, and Switch 2 sales cooled to 2.67 million units last quarter.

If a Switch 2 is on your holiday list, plan around $500. Waiting for a price cut looks like the wrong bet, and the next hike risk sits in next year, not this one.

Qualcomm's phone chip sales fell 26% in a year, and its car chip sales jumped 89%.

Qualcomm makes the Snapdragon processors and modems inside most premium Android phones. It reported fiscal fourth-quarter results on November 4, with revenue of $10.44 billion. Handset revenue dropped to $5.14 billion, squeezed by industrywide memory shortages and Apple shifting to its own modems.

Cars went the other way. Automotive revenue hit $1.99 billion, a record quarter, as carmakers put its fifth-generation Snapdragon Digital Chassis into dashboards and driver-assistance systems.

Qualcomm expects its businesses outside phones to pass half of its chip sales in fiscal 2027, and it is targeting $5 billion in data center revenue that year.

The phone business built Qualcomm. The numbers now point to cars and AI servers carrying the growth, and the chip price increases Qualcomm has planned for fiscal 2027 could land in phone prices.

Tesla Superchargers just showed up on a rival network.

EVgo opened its first EVgo Supercharger site near downtown Chicago today. The station has 12 stalls, and EVgo calls them the first dozen of hundreds it plans to add across the country.

The stalls charge both NACS and CCS cars through Tesla's Magic Dock, so drivers do not need to bring their own adapter. The first sites sit at grocery-anchored shopping centers owned by Regency Centers, and the chargers appear in Tesla's in-car navigation and Trip Planner.

EVgo also expects 500 NACS stalls nationwide by the end of this year, separate from this Supercharger rollout.

As a Model Y driver, this is the version of the charging wars I want. Tesla's hardware shows up at the grocery store, and it works for the CCS car parked next to me too.

Claude can now read your bank account, and Anthropic is selling the limits as the feature.

Anthropic launched Personal Finance in Claude today, in beta this week for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers in the US. Connect accounts through Plaid, which links apps to over 12,000 banks, then ask about balances, spending and bills.

Access is read-only. For the accounts you pick, Claude sees balances, credit limits and up to two years of transactions. It cannot move, manage or invest your money. It flags fees and double charges, spots bills that crept up, and builds spending charts. Chats in the finance hub are not used to train Anthropic's models.

ChatGPT added a similar Plaid tool in May. Anthropic's pitch is restraint: no ads, no sponsored recommendations, no Claude credit card at the end of the answer.

I run a one-person business where every swipe is either an expense or a mistake to catch. A tool that reads that mess and sells me nothing has my attention.

Paid $200 for Logic Pro? Its headline AI feature is not included.

Logic Pro is Apple's music production app for Mac. Version 13.0 shipped today, and its big new feature is an Intelligent Assistant that understands plain language. You can ask it to start a song, set up a vocal track from one prompt, or clean up a project you already have open.

Apple's own release notes put the catch in a footnote. The assistant requires a Creator Studio subscription at $12.99 a month or $129 a year, on top of an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 27. Apple's October announcement of the feature never mentioned a subscription.

One-time buyers still get the rest of today's update, including the rebuilt sound browser and a Stem Splitter that breaks a drum part into individual pieces. The app they bought outright keeps working. The feature Apple led with now rents by the month, and the people who paid in full found out from the fine print on release day.

OpenAI's AI agents found 948 ways to take over a Linux machine, at $1,279 per bug.

Linux is the system core inside Android phones, cloud servers, and most of the internet's infrastructure. OpenAI pointed an unreleased cyber model at about 7 percent of its kernel in mid-October. The agents reproduced 1,724 flaws, built 1,169 working exploits, and grouped them into 948 distinct bugs that let a low-level account seize root, full control of the machine.

The whole run cost $1,213,430 in API credits. In July, an earlier model found 166 bugs at about $3,095 each.

The fixes are not shipped. OpenAI wrote candidate patches, and human reviewers are sending them to Linux maintainers. In the first 10 days, 61 of the bugs were already patched upstream.

My read: finding bugs just got cheap. Reviewing 948 patches is now the slow part, and an unpatched Linux box should treat a basic account on it as close to full access.
