First Assembly of God East Alton

Bring back the altar. There is no experience like, or that ever will replace taking the steps from our seat at a pew to kneel at an altar. Whether we are laying our burdens down, worshipping, quietly waiting for His voice, repenting, or simply going to God in reverent obedience, there's nothing more life changing. He meets us there each time. While, yes, it's true that God is with us always and will meet us wherever we are, the experience of taking those steps to bow before Him cannot be replaced. Gathering at the front of the church in fellowship prayer is awesome, let's do that as well. Some churches have decorated and removed altars, using stairways or platforms to kneel instead, but give me an altar, that's my preference. I have left my voice of worship, my tears, my sin, and my burdens at His feet there, but am also guilty of staying in my pew when I should have taken those steps. Lord, help me to listen to Your urging to come to you. If you haven't had an altar experience, it's time. I promise you that God will meet you there. Don't do life without the help He is wanting to give. Let's bring back the Altar.
