Sometimes I get the feeling that I’ve been the only person ever to photograph a particular car. It’s a feeling I definitely got while taking a single shot of this 2004 Hyundai Getz. Don’t forget to appreciate the mundane. #carspotting#hyundai
AI can’t yet generate scenes this mediocre, at least not without a prompt that would trip its safety net. Is this person mentally well? They’re asking for a somehow perfectly faded Mk1 Ford Focus, peeking out of a driveway beneath a sky so relentlessly grey it becomes the ideal softbox.
Streets full of burnt-out people, slowly acclimatising to having less and less. Meanwhile, the omnipresent overlord scans everything we say and write, patiently waiting to plagiarise the lot.
Those with s*** for brains who couldn’t string a sentence together are now writing with confidence. Suddenly most phone photos are bangers. But there’s a familiar feeling when you take any of that stuff in, an AI feel. And every time you notice that, know that the thinking of a human has usually been bypassed. The appearance of competence has skipped the process of developing it.
Ran this through ChatGPT before I posted it, obviously.
The other day I featured a Max Power badged Ford Mondeo Mk1 and a few of you asked to see a little more of it. Well, here it is.
A very early car on a K-plate, it’s a 2.0 Si and is very much of its time thanks to its bodykit, twin exhausts, large alloys and tinted lights/windows. Oh, and that number plate. My favourite bit though, it has to be the Morette quad headlamp conversion.
I briefly found myself lost in the history of a company I had never heard of, all thanks to this sticker.
Browned and weathered, yet still occupying pride of place in the front windscreen of this tired Triumph Herald, its intriguing typeface belongs to an era that my generation encounters only on retro-inspired products.
It advertises a service rendered obsolete by technological advances, once offered by a business staffed by enthusiasts, many of whom have likely long since passed on.
A single Google search for ‘Supertuned Newport’ led me to an AI-generated summary of the former Supertune Car Clinic and, to be fair, Google’s controversial feature seemed to have done a remarkably good job.
It steered me towards a Facebook post where Newport residents, both past and present, were reminiscing about the former business and its charismatic owner, Mr Joe Martin.
To most, it’s just an old car. But for some, these vehicles, and the automobilia that adorns them, offer a tangible link to a different time.

Spotted plenty of crust today in BS5/6, so much that I did an entire battery in. As usual, it’s as random as the traffic I encounter. #carspotting #bristol #carculture #ukcore #documentinglife
