A tight ensemble with electrifying sound, Alabama's St. Paul & the Broken Bones deliver captivating live performances with impassioned vocals. Founded in Birmingham in 2011, St. Paul & the Broken Bones consists of Paul Janeway (vocals), Jesse Phillips (bass), Browan Lollar (guitar), Kevin Leon (drums), Al Gamble (keyboards), Allen Branstetter (trumpet), Chad Fisher (trombone), and Amari Ansari (sax).
The band made their recording debut in 2014 with Half the City - including the platinum hit “Call Me.” The group expanded their sound with a few glimmers of disco on albums such as 2018's Young Sick Camellia. In 2022, their fine arts-inspired album The Alien Coast incorporated synths, psychedelia, samples.
St. Paul & The Broken Bones have shared stages with The Rolling Stones and Lizzo and played renowned festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury. The band is a sonic powerhouse, delivering a genre-bending convergence of rock & roll, soul, R&B, psychedelia and funk.

Thank you to everyone in our orbit who made this album happen. We love you very much.
We recorded this album in September of 2020 two weeks before my daughter was born. The moment had to be captured or it was going to be lost in the feelings of what parenthood actually felt like instead of how I thought it would feel like.
I did debate a bit if this album should ever see the light of day mainly because it was such a personal album to me. It felt a little icky to put commerce with an album that was made with no intention but the therapeutic affect it had on me. Then I thought it was such a beautiful album that it would be a shame if folks didn’t hear it.
So my biggest hope is that this album brings you a joyful moment in your life or soothes a bad day or gives you therapeutic cry or motivates you to hug someone that loves you.

“‘Lonely Love Song’ was the first song written for Angels In Science Fiction, and the template in which we wrote the whole album: simple lyrics with a simple message that cuts to the core. It’s hard for me to sing this song without my eyes swelling up with tears. The lyrics flow from denial to fear to the inevitable. I used to stay up some nights being terrified with what death will bring me. Now with a daughter, I try to live my life cherishing all the moments we have together. I would rather be bored with her than anything else in the world. I know death is inevitable for all of us and I think I am ok with that now. Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” – Paul
