Part One of my two-part conversation with Tamika Bearden-Young, APRN, FNP-C, is now streaming on Calm & Cultured Collective!

We’re talking about Black women’s health, menopause, prevention, and learning to speak up for ourselves when it comes to our care.

So many of us stay on top of everyone else’s needs while putting our own on hold.

My hope is that this conversation encourages you to make that appointment, ask that question, and listen to what your body is telling you.

Thank you, Tamika, for sharing your knowledge and your heart with us. Watch on YouTube or listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music—and share it with a woman you love.

We’ve reached the end of our three-part Church Hurt series.

This conversation with Pastor Nathaniel Simpson has been one of the most meaningful of Season Two for me because it speaks to something so many people carry quietly: hurt caused in spaces that were supposed to feel safe.

In Part Three, we talk about religious trauma, spiritual manipulation, discernment, identity, freedom, and what it can look like to find God again after being wounded by church people or unhealthy religious environments.

Throughout this series, one truth has stayed at the center: church hurt is real, but God is still God.

My hope is that this series reaches the person who walked away because they were hurt, but also challenges those of us who are still serving in ministry to remember that people must be handled with care, humility, accountability, and love.

Part Three — “How to Find God Again After Religious Trauma” — is live now.

If this series has spoken to you, watch all three parts, share them with someone who may need them, and tell me in the comments what stood out to you most.

Church hurt is real. And accountability has to begin with leadership.

In Part Two of my conversation with Pastor Nathaniel Simpson, we talk about the responsibility church leaders carry when people come into ministry already hurting, confused, disappointed, or searching for healing.

Pastor Simpson says something that stayed with me: people need to be able to see God through the heart of their leaders.

That means leadership cannot just be about titles, sermons, positions, or authority. It has to include humility, empathy, accountability, and the willingness to make things right when we cause harm.

We also talk about why one painful church experience does not have to become the reason someone gives up on church altogether — and why those of us serving in ministry have to be careful not to add more weight to people who are already carrying so much.

Part Two of our three-part Church Hurt series is live now.

If you serve in ministry, have experienced church hurt, or are trying to rebuild trust in the church, I hope you’ll watch this one.

In Part One of this three-part conversation, I sit down with Pastor Nathaniel Simpson of The Forgiving Church to talk honestly about church hurt, accountability, forgiveness, leadership, and what healing can look like without losing your relationship with God.

Pastor Simpson shares his own experience with church hurt and challenges leaders to remember that many people enter the church already carrying wounds. This conversation is for anyone who has been hurt, disappointed, or pushed away by church, and for those of us in ministry who need to remember that people must be handled with care, grace, and love.

Part One is live now.

Episode 2 of 3 is now live!

In this episode we discuss Sheila's home, formally known as the Rockefeller -Rudd mansion, it's history (including the deed), relevance to Sheila and her decision to purchase it.

I enjoyed this conversation immensely.

I know, I know, I say that all the time, but I truly do love this.

What would it mean to you to purchase the home that you once dreamed of owning?

I didn’t realize how much of me was the performance of me.

That line stayed with me.

So many of us have spent years trying to be perfect, trying to please people, trying to say the right thing, serve the right way, show up the right way, and never let anybody down.

But somewhere along the way, we start carrying a load God never asked us to carry.

In this conversation, Donna shares what it meant to stop performing, release people pleasing, and finally receive the grace of God without feeling like she had to earn it.

Episode 2 of Reclaiming Fatherhood w/ Bo is now available.

In “Blended Family, Same Table,”Bo and I talk about the real work of building a blended family : trust, transition, presence, consistency, and what it means to become one family under one roof.

This episode is personal because I have watched Bo not only be a father, but become a father figure, bonus father, and grandfather with love, patience, and presence.

I also shared a new newsletter reflecting on the first two episodes and my gratitude for who Bo is to our family.

Watch Episode 2 and read the newsletter here. Then come back and tell me:

What has blended family, fatherhood, or chosen presence taught you?

Today, I’m sharing Part One of a three-part conversation with my husband, Bo.

This is his first time joining me on The Calm & Cultured Collective, and we’re beginning with a topic that is deeply personal to both of us: growing up without his father.

In this first part, Bo reflects on the moment he realized his father was not coming back and how that absence shaped the man, husband and father he would eventually become.

This conversation is honest, vulnerable and very close to our hearts.

Watch Part One: **When I Realized I Didn’t Have My Father.**

Parts Two and Three are coming soon.
