15-year-old Phillip Mullin from Alexandria, Louisiana, is making medical history! ❤️🙏🏽

After more than 100 hospitalizations battling sickle cell disease, Phillip received a groundbreaking gene therapy called LYFGENIA at Manning Family Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.

The treatment uses his own genetically modified stem cells to help prevent painful sickle cell episodes. He is now being celebrated as the first child in Louisiana to receive gene therapy for sickle cell disease and achieve what doctors describe as a functional cure.

Although he will still need long-term medical monitoring, his recovery is giving hope to countless families battling sickle cell disease.
