2:17 began with a station clock that refuses to move and a train offering one impossible return: choose a lost day, but surrender every memory that came after it.
For me, the song is less about going back than about learning what memory is for. The narrator reaches the platform believing the past is a door. By the time the train leaves, she understands it as a light—something that can show the way forward without asking her to live there forever.
The key production decision was restraint. A full reconstruction from the separated stems pushed the summed peak above 0 dBFS and moved the result away from the original mix, so I preserved that mix and used the vocal stems only to guide very light high-frequency control. The goal was not to make the song louder, but to let the piano, suspended synth space, and gradual turn toward dawn remain intact.

Blue Cathedral of Echoes began with a solitary traveler entering a cathedral asleep beneath the sea. In the lyrics, it is more than a beautiful ruin: every pillar still holds a forgotten song. When those sleeping notes awaken, the traveler changes from a listener into the cathedral’s breath, pulse, and voice.
The music follows that transformation, growing from flowing piano and a gentle electronic pulse into wider strings, choir-like layers, and a luminous final chorus.
The hardest part was restraint. The separated stems overlapped too much to rebuild the mix safely, so I kept the original balance and made only a subtle cleanup to the vocal’s high end. Sometimes finishing a track means knowing what not to change.
