Anamorphic Cookbook

Here's quick update since I turned off memberships for the channel yesterday! For the last year and a half I have been working on my own company alongside two other partners. We are Final Version 2: a boutique studio focused on motion design and visual effects. It's been a rollercoaster, and it feels like it's going somewhere. To keep my sanity I moved Anamorphic on a Budget to the umbrella of the company, which means I get more support, more people, and more investment into making the videos that you like so much. The side effect is I don't have to try and get money from youtube in whichever way I can, and that's what triggered turning off ads a few weeks ago, and now the memberships. The channel name has "on a budget" on it, so I wanted that even if your budget is $0, you still get access to the whole thing.

For the members that were surprised with the email yesterday, I am infinitely grateful for your support through this journey, be it for a month, be it from the very first day I turned on memberships. We built an amazing community on Discord, and you have continuously inspired me to keep making videos and teaching people about anamorphic filmmaking. Thank you.

Now, onwards and upwards. I aim to finish the Cookbook this year, which means all of Modules 4, 5 and 7 (not in that order), and much more.

Anamorphic Cookbook

I have always struggled to understand and identify optical aberrations, and a lot of the anamorphic look is about aberrations. This video does a great job teaching spherical aberration, coma, field curvature, and chromatic aberration. The graphics go until 7:00 in, then skip ahead to 11:55 for visual demonstrations!
