Ganesh Chaturthi transforms Mumbai into a city of devotion, drawing thousands of devotees to iconic pandals across the city. As women navigate crowded streets, long queues and several hours of festivities in search of darshan, access to a safe, clean and hygienic washroom becomes more than just a basic need. It is closely linked to their comfort, dignity and ability to participate freely in the celebrations. In high-footfall areas, where crowds and extended hours can make access to facilities challenging, this everyday need becomes an important part of a woman’s overall experience of the festivities.

Women often find themselves planning their day around washroom availability, limiting their water intake or relying on cafés and restaurants, sometimes making an unnecessary purchase simply to access a clean facility. During large public celebrations, these limitations can become even more pronounced, turning what should be a basic convenience into a compromise on comfort, dignity and participation. Recognising that access to safe sanitation is an everyday need not just a festival-time concern Zee TV brings this often-overlooked aspect of women’s experience into focus.

Addressing this need, Zee TV introduces ‘Ladies Special’, a dedicated washroom installation for women near Mumbai’s celebrated Ganpati Pandal, ‘Parel Cha Raja’. You are not treating an injury; you are fighting time, uncertainty and the possibility that one wrong decision could cost a life. My character Anirudh has to constantly balance his instinct as a surgeon with the responsibility of making the safest possible choice for his patient. Knowing that these stories draw from real medical experiences also makes the work far more humbling. I salute the doctors who had to find the courage to act when there was no textbook solution.”_
