State Alankaran 2026: Shri Suresh ji Agrawal Honoured with the ‘Vigyan Ratna’ Award

The Prakriti Shikshan Vigyan Yatra Parivar organised a grand national-level felicitation ceremony in Kurud, Chhattisgarh, at the Pragya Arora Training Bhavan, honouring 120 teachers for their outstanding contribution to education and science communication.

Senior science communicator from Nagpur, Shri Suresh Agrawal ji, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. For more than four decades, Shri Agrawal has been tirelessly working in the field of fundamental science and science communication. Through his dedicated efforts, he has inspired and nurtured hundreds of science communicators and helped foster a scientific temper among millions of children.

In recognition of his remarkable and sustained contribution to science education and communication, Shri Suresh Agrawal ji was conferred with the prestigious ‘Vigyan Ratna’ Award.

The dignitaries present on the occasion included Shri Rakesh Kumar Soni, Deputy Registrar, Anjaneya University; Shri Jagjit Singh Ghir, District Education Officer, Durg; Padma Shri Shri Ajay Mandavi; Shri Neeraj Verma and Smt. Rashmi Verma from R.K. Science Park; Shri Manoj Mishra of Vikas Family Club, Bihar; and Shri Abhishek Shukla, President, Prakriti Shikshan Vigyan Yatra.

Heartiest congratulations to Shri Suresh Agrawal ji on this well-deserved honour and for his inspiring contribution to nurturing scientific curiosity and a scientific temper among generations of young learners.

We often think of art as something created by human hands. But nature itself can be a magnificent artist. Wind, rain, sunlight and the passage of time slowly shape rocks into fascinating forms. Some resemble animals, faces or abstract sculptures—without a human hand ever creating them.

Remembering Dr. Vikram Sarabhai: The Visionary Who Shaped Indian Science

A special programme commemorating the great Indian scientist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai was organised at Rashtrabhasha Bhavan, Nagpur, on 13 August 2026. The programme featured an interesting documentary that highlighted the remarkable life, scientific vision and contributions of Dr. Sarabhai, widely regarded as the father of the Indian space programme.

Officials of ARTBSE (Association for Research and Training in Basic Science Education), Nagpur, including Shri Suresh Agrawal, were present on the occasion.

Speaking at the programme, Shri Suresh Agrawal announced the launch of “The Visionaries”, a unique initiative of ARTBSE. Under this series, one eminent scientist will be remembered every month, with an effort to introduce the scientific community and young learners to the scientist's life, work, discoveries and contributions to the nation and the world.

The initiative aims not merely to remember great scientists, but also to understand their scientific thinking, draw inspiration from their journey and encourage the younger generation towards science and innovation.

The programme beautifully reflected the message: “विज्ञान को जानें, वैज्ञानिकों से प्रेरणा लें, बेहतर भविष्य का निर्माण करें।”

Through The Visionaries, ARTBSE has taken a meaningful step towards connecting young minds with India's rich scientific heritage and inspiring them to become the innovators and scientific thinkers of tomorrow.

Representing Nagpur, Sangita Pidadi from Plan My Study created this vibrant poster using Google Gemini AI, bringing together some of Nagpur’s most recognisable flavours and landmarks: 🍊 Nagpur oranges, the Zero Mile Stone, Tarri Poha and tasty Saoji cuisine!
