Take a good look at the Venturist right now, because she is currently living that "no shoe" lifestyle up on jack stands. Why? Because the Florida heat index is 110°F, my brain is firing on all cylinders, and I am brute-forcing some budget logistics.
If you own a Subaru, you already know the ultimate boss fight: the 2/32-inch tread depth rule. If your tire circumferences aren’t practically identical, the center differential starts sweating, and the AWD system chooses violence.
So here is the game plan for tomorrow's mission to Discount Tire:
We are officially "stealing" the fresher, high-spec tires off the overland trailer.
Those are getting mounted onto the Crosstrek wheels.
Buy exactly one matching brand-new tire for the car so the entire AWD drivetrain is perfectly within identical rolling specs.
Demote the older, more worn-out car tires back to the trailer, where they can live out the rest of their days just rolling along behind us without a computer monitoring their every rotation.
One trip. One new tire purchased. Two rigs perfectly sorted for the next trail run. 🎛️⚡
