The war of aggression led by the United States and Israel against the people of Iran is the latest manifestation of the warmongering, destructive nature of US imperialism. In addition to its war on Iran, we have seen how the US brazenly disregards national sovereignty with its kidnapping of the president of Venezuela, how it continues to support allies such as Israel in its genocidal activities against the people of Palestine and Lebanon, and how it continues to starve millions in Cuba through a brutal economic blockade.
We have also seen how science and technology has been misused and abused in imperialist military aggression with the use of artificial intelligence and illegal chemical weapons throughout the course of this war; and how civilian research institutions have been explicitly targeted to undermine peaceful scientific research capabilities of countries like Iran.
We join the resounding chorus of the peoples of the world, including our fellow STEM professionals and advocates from different countries, in condemning the crimes of the United States against the people of Iran and the world in general. We reiterate our opposition to the use of science and technology for the interests of warmongering imperialist countries.
While an initial ceasefire has been announced between Iran and the US as of April 8, we must remain vigilant. We join the peoples of the world in calling for an end to the US-Israel war on Iran and for an end to US military aggression across the world. We also call on immediate relief for the Filipino masses greatly impacted by the ongoing economic crisis, which the Marcos Jr. administration has refused to address in any significant and timely manner.
