I will be there! Will you? Looking forward to attending the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. Let me know if you will be at the show and say hello! ‪@RetroGamingExpo‬ Get tickets at: www.retrogamingexpo.com/
John Romero and the entire former id team have been such an inspiration to me since I was a young teenager. Thank you ‪@Romero666‬ for taking the time to nerd out over lunch! Can't wait to see the FPS game that Romero Games Ltd. is working on. If you haven't seen my interview with Romero, please check it out: https://youtu.be/_99K_0apbFg
New shirt for a new interview. Interview # 40 in the series is a big one, ‪@Blizzard‬ co-founder and former CEO Mike Morhaime. Mike told some phenomenal Blizzard history and inspiring stories. Editing it now. I'll have it up in the coming days on the channel. Please tell your friends to subscribe to ‪@techjesse‬. Thank you!
Up today on the TechJesse channel. If you have around a half hour to spare, please listen to this interview. I learned some great Apple and personal computer history from Paul Terrell, founder of the Byte Shop.
-Paul gave Apple its first order, purchasing 50 Apple-1 computers for his Byte Shop, serial numbers 2 through 51 (Woz bought #1 for a teacher friend, Liza Loop). Before Paul's order, Atari’s Nolan Bushnell and Commodore’s Jack Tramiel had both turned Jobs and Wozniak down.
-Wozniak worked on the Apple II inside Terrell’s Byte Shop because Apple didn’t have a color monitor.
-Steve Wozniak never originally planned to quit Hewlett-Packard. It was only after Terrell's purchase order that Jobs convinced him to quit HP.
Woz says he considers him as the "fourth founder of Apple." He gave Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak their first purchase order in 1976 kickstarting their new company, and founded the Byte Shop in 1975, the first chain of personal computer retailer stores. It was an honor to interview Paul Terrell. Up now on the Patreon for early viewing: patreon.com/techJesse/
TechJesse podcast is now also on Spotify. I'll upload 3 interviews each week until I am caught up. Please go follow it now. Relive the golden era of tech & games on your commute to work --> sptfy.in/ctg2
I just recorded an interview with a man who played a critical role in the computer revolution, Paul Terrell. He told some great history about the time he invested in two hippies named Steve in 1976 and placed the very first purchase order to jumpstart their company called Apple. If you've seen the Jobs movie, he is the one who followed Steve Jobs outside of the Homebrew Computer Club meeting and bought the first 50 Apple I computers to sell in his store, the Byte Shop. I'll have it edited and up within the next few weeks.
