With Gold down 20% and Silver crashing 51% in India, everyone has a different strategy. Where do you stand? ๐
Before you buy physical metals and lose margins to high making charges, GST, and locker fees, you need to check out the frictionless alternative: Gold & Silver ETFs.
I just broke down the exact investing framework for this dip in Part 1 of my new series on the Shorts channel.

Suddenly, Indian equities seem to have become a bad investment. We keep reading things like
โNifty has gone nowhere in last 2 years.โ
โFD would have given me 7%.โ
โGold has performed much better.โ
โReal estate has gone up 3x.โ
And for the period being considered, some of these statements may actually be true.
We are judging long-term asset classes using whichever short-term period supports our narrative.
NSEโs historical study of the Nifty 50 TRI tells a different story:
โ Negative returns in ~26% of 1-year period
8% of 3-year periods
โ Almost zero over 5 years
Equity investing was never supposed to give you FD like returns every year.
And conviction comes from understanding the business.
Are revenues and profits growing? Are margins healthy? Is the balance sheet strong? Is your investment thesis intact?
Because ultimately, what drives your decisions?
Prices can diverge from fundamentals for months, even years. But over the long term, business performance matters.
Thatโs why downturns require something more than patience.
Every major downturn also seems to come with the same four words:
Wars. Recessions. Financial crises. Pandemics. Technological disruptions. Interest-rate shocks. The circumstances change. Yet broad equity markets have repeatedly survived, adapted and recovered.
Nobody knows ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป the current cycle will turn. Neither do I.
But some of the same voices explaining today why Indian equities are a bad investment may eventually show us another chart:โโน10 lakh invested during the 2025โ26 downturn would be worth โนXX lakh today.
The rear-view mirror always makes investing look easy.
Diversification matters. But equities reward the ability to identify good businesses, build conviction through research and remain patient when the market disagrees with you.
Because the hardest part of compounding is ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฒ ๐น๐ผ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต ๐๐ผ reap its rewards.

While the broader market remained under pressure today, one small-cap stock moved sharply in the opposite direction.
Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (#KMEW) surged over 7% intraday.
But the business transformation behind the company is even more interesting.
KMEW started primarily as a dredging and marine services company.
Now, it is attempting a much larger transition: Dredging โ Marine Assets โ Green Vessels โ Shipbuilding โ Long-term Operations.
A few numbers put the scale into perspective:
โข FY26 revenue: ~โน256 crore
โข Order book: โน1,300+ crore before the latest order
โข Planned capex: ~โน1,000 crore
โข Latest Green Tug contract: ~โน279 crore for 15 years
โข Green Tug contracts won so far: 3
The latest contract also includes manning, operations, maintenance and technical management, and not just building the vessels, potentially creating long-term revenue from the same asset.
But a significant portion of the order book consists of long-duration contracts. So assuming โน1,300+ crore of orders as a near-term revenue realisable over next 3-4 years would be wrong.
And with planned capex almost 4x of FY26 revenue, execution becomes critical for the company.
So the next phase is less about order wins and more about: Shipyard execution | Green vessel deliveries | Managing Receivables, Debt & ROCE.
Because ultimately, it is the right execution that creates shareholder value.
I recently recorded a detailed video breaking down KMEWโs โน1,000 crore expansion, Green Tug opportunity, order book and key risks.
Video link in the comments.

ITC just announced a total FY26 dividend of โน14.50 per share.
Let me ask you a simple question:
If you had โน10 lakh to invest TODAYโฆ
Would you put it in:
A๏ธโฃ ITC for regular dividends and stability
OR
B๏ธโฃ A high-growth stock that pays no dividend
There is no right answer.
But hereโs why this question matters:
โ ITC generated over โน20,000 Crore profit this year
โ Revenue crossed โน81,000 Crore
โ Total FY26 dividend: โน14.50/share
In a market where many investors are worried about volatility, companies that consistently generate cash become very interesting.
Personally, I think every portfolio should have a balance between growth and cash-generating businesses.
Whatโs your choice?
A = Dividend Income ๐ฐ
B = Capital Appreciation ๐

Also, I recently analyzed 3 dividend-paying companies that long-term investors may want to study:

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (KMEW) has received another order of INR 127.12 Crores from IWAI for supply of 4 Cutter Suction Dredger Boats for River Ganga project.
This is in addition to earlier order of 8 boats received from IWAI as well.
The company works on owning, chartering/hiring, manning, operating, and technical maintenance of marine crafts, as well as repairs and maintenance of marine infrastructure in India and Myanmar.
This stock has been covered multiple times in our videos and is one of the biggest beneficiary of Inland Waterways and Maritime development in India.

The Indian government is actively exploring the use of isobutanol as a blending agent in diesel. The Transport Minister recently indicated that trials are underway and standards bodies are working on specifications to enable large-scale adoption. (Source: Business Standard)
โก Why this matters
Much like ethanol blending with petrol created new opportunities in recent years, isobutanol blending could open doors for producers of advanced biofuels and specialty chemicals. Its higher energy density and blending compatibility make it a strong candidate to reduce emissions, lower crude import dependence, and create new growth avenues for companies in the sector.
Iโve analysed three small-cap Indian companies that could be potential beneficiaries if this policy direction translates into actual demand.
