Hej hej from the rails! I’m Chloé — a Kiwi travel creator exploring the world one awkward train moment at a time. My husband Ludvig (dry humour, Swedish passport) joins when he can.
Together, we seek out the quirkiest journeys, comfiest cabins, and always squeeze in a touch of luxury when we can (okay, that part’s mostly my idea 😅). We’re all about making travel fun, relatable, and a little bit weird — with a side of scenic magic. 💛
From epic train rides and cruises to offbeat road trips and all sorts of unexpected detours in between, we love showing you what it’s really like to explore the world — the good, the awkward, and the occasionally sleep-deprived. Whether it’s a luxury rail journey, a ferry to somewhere random, or a rental car adventure through tiny towns, we’re here for the ride.

You've now seen what 53 hours in an Amtrak roomette for two actually looks like...
Would you do it?

I PUT LUDVIG ON AMTRAK FOR 53 HOURS 😂🚂
This is my ninth Amtrak journey.
It is his first overnighter....
And I have chosen the California Zephyr, a tiny roomette and TWO NIGHTS across America as his introduction.
Nothing excessive about that whatsoever..........
The experiment is now LIVE 👇

I have ridden Amtrak many, many times.
Ludvig has never slept on an Amtrak train.
So obviously I decided his first experience should be...
53 HOURS 😂🚂
Prediction?

If you were taking the Bernina Express, what would you book?

THE LITTLE RED TRAIN!!! 🚂
This is one I've wanted to do for such a long time.
Ludvig and I are travelling from northern Italy into Switzerland aboard the Bernina Express, winding our way through tiny Alpine villages, around a railway that literally loops around itself, past frozen lakes and eventually into SO MUCH SNOW.
This one feels like a proper little winter movie.
Episode Two of Cool Things to Do in the Cold is LIVE! 👇

Did you guess Switzerland!?
I've had this little red train sitting on my imaginary "one day" list for YEARS🇨🇭❄️
Tomorrow... one day finally happens.
We're taking the Bernina Express through the Swiss Alps in winter and I really don't think I was prepared for how pretty this was going to get.
New Cool Things to Do in the Cold coming tomorrow 🚂

Okay, I think it's time I showed you something VERY different from the luxury trains, private suites and extraordinary journeys you usually see on this channel....
Meet my car 🚗
My brother was absolutely HOWLING with laughter at it over the weekend and actually suggested I share it with you all, because he thought you might find the contrast between my YouTube life and my actual life quite hilarious 😂
And honestly... he's not wrong.
This beautiful specimen was originally a WHITE car that belonged to my late Nana. It was passed down to me, and at some point my dad decided to paint it BLACK. Himself. In our garage.
Which would have been absolutely fine, except that somehow we managed to permanently preserve bits of grass, dirt and what I believe might actually be FLY WINGS in the paint 😂
The paint is now scratching and peeling off, the doors squeak so loudly when I open them that I feel like I'm arriving in a haunted house, and no matter HOW thoroughly I clean it, a new spider seems to move into my side mirror approximately five minutes later.
Oh, and did I mention the radio doesn't work? Neither does the sound system. So every single journey is spent sitting in complete silence, just me and my thoughts.
I've travelled on trains with private suites, champagne and onboard entertainment, but apparently having MUSIC in my own car is where I draw the line on luxury 😂
I've now reached the point where I mostly just drive around with the cobwebs still attached because I genuinely cannot be bothered removing them anymore 🕷️
And yes. This is the car I drive around in when I'm not travelling the world.
The funny thing is, I actually think this car sums up my life quite well.
Because if you only knew me through my YouTube videos, you'd probably assume my everyday life looks VERY different. And I mean, I completely understand why!
One week I'm sleeping in an extraordinary first class train suite, the next I'm cruising through beautiful scenery on some ridiculously expensive journey, and then I'm off to another country to experience something else that most people would consider a once in a lifetime holiday.
I sometimes get comments like:
"Must be nice being rich!"
"Life of the rich and famous!"
“Money must be no object for you!”
Or people assuming that everything I do is paid for by someone else.
And I genuinely don't blame anyone for thinking that, because LOOK at the things I get to experience!
But I wanted to share a little bit of the reality behind it all.
I've never really had the money to buy myself a nice car. For most of my adult life, I've chosen to put whatever money I had towards travelling and experiences instead.
And more recently, almost everything I earn has gone straight back into building and running this little YouTube business.
The editing, the people who help me behind the scenes, the flights, accommodation, transport, equipment, and all the other things that go into producing these films.
It costs a LOT more to make these videos than I think most people realise.
And while most of the incredible experiences you see are things I've paid for myself, others are only possible because a company has kindly invited me to experience them, or because a brand has sponsored a video and helped cover some of the cost of making it.
Those opportunities are genuinely what allow me to keep creating these films and sharing journeys that would otherwise be completely out of reach for me financially. And I'm incredibly grateful for that.
But I also wanted to share this because I think social media can sometimes give us a very strange impression of what other people's lives look like.
You see the beautiful hotels, the first class cabins, the champagne, the amazing meals, the incredible destinations...
But you don't necessarily see the squeaky old car with the dead flies painted into it waiting at home 😂
And I NEVER want anyone watching my videos to feel like their own life isn't exciting enough, or that they're somehow falling behind because they can't afford the kinds of experiences I share.
Because the truth is, I can't afford a lot of them either! Not without the business I've spent years building, the partnerships that help make these productions possible, and a LOT of careful planning and prioritising.
I get to experience some extraordinary things for my job, and I know how incredibly lucky I am to do that.
But that doesn't mean I live an extraordinary, luxurious life every single day.
Most days I'm at home in my milk stained clothes from feeding my baby lambs, sitting hunched over my computer for hours on end, eating instant noodles, working away on the next film, and occasionally driving my spider infested car to get a coffee that I have VERY specifically budgeted for ☕️
And honestly? I'm very happy with that.
I'd much rather put my money into experiences, stories and building something I love than have a fancy car sitting in the driveway.
Although I WOULD quite like one where the doors don't sound like they're about to fall off. And maybe some music.
Anyway, my brother thought you all needed to see this side of my life, so here you go 😂
A little reminder that what you see on YouTube is a very real part of my life, but it's only ONE part of it.
And sometimes the girl travelling across the world in a luxury train suite is also the girl driving home in a car with an entire spider civilisation living in her wing mirrors.
Both things can be true ❤️
Please tell me I'm not the only one driving around in a car like this 😂

Okay… I’m potentially planning another Japan trip next year 👀🇯🇵
And I have a VERY important question 😂
Thanks to your comments, I have learned that Japan has just launched Supreme Class on the Shinkansen - a brand new class ABOVE Gran Class, where you get your own completely private cabin/suite situation.
Obviously if I’m going to do it, I don’t want to take it for an hour or two…
I want to do the longest journey possible. About FIVE HOURS across Japan 😂🚄
The problem?
A Supreme Class ticket can cost up to ¥90,220 one way depending on the route and cabin 😳 which is roughly $580 USD.
So… should I completely blow the budget and make a video about it?

After watching the video… which Shinkansen class would you ACTUALLY pay for?
And apparently I now need to make another video 😂 Since posting this, loads of you have told me Japan has a NEW class that’s even fancier than Gran Class… Supreme Class?! 👀
