Sufi-inspired singer and composer Mentrix draws her sacred music practice into a secular exploration of the illusive dualities of Existence and belonging. Iranian-born Berlin-based Mentrix fuses eastern and western sounds with lyrical songwriting, crisp drum machines and propulsive traditional Sufi and iranian instruments, into a bold and luminous goth-pop sound.

Today I am sharing another #BHS. We are here at Dakhmeh aka the Tower of Silence in Yazd. That's director Gilles Esteve running in front of a drone operated by Quentin de Lamarzelle. Happy days. Thank you everyone in the city who made this possible. Special thanks to the manager of the site.

Dakhmeh or The Tower Of Silence is the circular raised structure built by 9th century zoroastrians for excarnation. To avoid to contaminate the sacred Earth, dead bodies would be exposed to vultures at the top of a the tower. At the bottom, dome shaped small building would shelter the mourning families.
Here we are, on this ancient site, hiding from the sun, rehearsing the dance moves for "Nature".

Filming in this location was magical. Thanks to the help of local authorities and the cooperation of management, we even got to dig out a massive sign that was obstructing our view... that's the next image I will share from this special series, all captured by the incredible Kathy Le Sant. Stay tune!

Behind the scenes of "Walk", my first music video and the first of its' kind to be filmed in Iran in four decades.

This is me and director Gilles Esteve at the Tower of Silence, in Yazd, Iran. At the top of this incredible site where my zoroastrian ancestors would be bringing the bodies of their loved ones, I was standing like a queen, watching the land below. The feeling of detachment from the world was accompanied by its' opposite. I also felt very much connected to this land and this world of dust and bone. And the wind blew in the veil that was covering me, not to hide me, but to make me visible; honour my sensuality and send a message of joy and gratefulness across this dry land that is my motherland. I love you Iran.

Another beautiful moment captured by Kathy Le Sant.

In 2018, I went to Iran location scouting. It was my aim to connect my music with my motherland. Against all the odds, after years of hard work and much faith, mine and that of incredible people who believed in my vision, we achieved the impossible. Once a month, I will publish a photo from this magnificent journey which led to the making of "Walk" and "Nature" in gorgeous Iran.
