This Golf proves that running a 10-second pass is about much more than just chasing big power.
We sat down with Martin and his right-hand man, Kobus, to chat about how the build came together, what the original goal was and how the car has developed since it first hit the track.
The car runs a turbocharged 2.0L 16V ABF engine with a sidewinder turbo setup, but what makes this build interesting is the amount of attention that has gone into the rest of the package.
Instead of focusing purely on making more power, Martin and Kobus have spent time working on weight, suspension, traction and improving the car’s 60-foot times and exit speed.
From its first Street 2 Strip events at Tarlton in January 2026, the car consistently ran in the low 11s before eventually achieving the goal of breaking into the 10-second bracket.
We also take a deeper look at the engine setup, boost, intake, intercooler, tyres, gearbox, suspension, traction bar and ECU, while Martin shares what a similar build could cost and where they plan on taking the car next.
This is a proper street car and a great example of why a quick drag car does not always need massive power or an unlimited budget.
What do you think is more important when chasing quicker times: adding more power or improving the complete setup?

Royston Royaz Prestage delivered when it mattered most at Bragging Rights 2026.
With the pressure on during CPT vs The Rest, Royston lined up against ADZO and his new 20V build in one of the most anticipated matchups of the event.
Powering ANGRY 16V WP is a turbocharged ABF 16V, now paired with Royston’s new 4-speed sequential-style gearbox.
The setup delivered when it counted, with Royston running a new personal best of 9.61 seconds at 244.3 km/h, backed up by a 1.588-second 60 foot.
Going head-to-head with ADZO only added to the pressure, but Royston stepped up and carried the pride of Cape Town and Killarney down the strip.
We also chat about how the name ANGRY 16V WP came about, the story behind the car, and what it has become known for.
And as Royston puts it, this car isn’t a show pony. He loves to race, and Bragging Rights was another chance to prove exactly that.
In this video, we take a closer look at the turbocharged ABF setup, the new gearbox, the story behind ANGRY 16V WP, and all the racing action from Bragging Rights 2026.
9.61 @ 244.3 km/h 1.588 60 foot Turbo ABF 16V. New PB. New gearbox. Pressure on. Job done. 🔥
Shiraat Campbell brought his J35-powered Honda CRX out for the very first time at Killarney, and it made an immediate statement.
On its first event with the new build, the CRX laid down an impressive 11.0-second PB and instantly shook up the FWD 6-cylinder scene.
In this video we take a closer look at the build, the J35 setup and the story behind the car before jumping onboard with Shiraat for a ride down Killarney.
For a brand-new setup to come out and run an 11.0 straight away is serious.

🔥 HE SAID NINES. HE DELIVERED NINES.
Back in July, ADZO told us about the 4-cylinder 20V build and made the goal clear.
He wanted a 9-second pass.
Fast forward to Bragging Rights…
9.71 seconds. 😮💨🔥
He called it. He built it. He did it.
