Tales From The Trip!

Going into Crystal Lake, I am not generally a big fan of the Friday The 13th franchise. I actually prefer the remake over any other original film. That being said, I went into this excited to see what they would do with a full eight episode season to flesh out the story of Pamela and Jason Voorhees. I think it is a solid first season. Nothing crazy, but I did enjoy my time watching it and loved lots of it. I actually liked the backstory as to why Jason is the way he is, but most people aren’t connecting with that. I think the acting is good for the most part with Linda Cardellini as Pam as the true standout here. The only negatives I have is that it kinda slows down in the middle of the season and I wish those episodes were more impactful, but it’s not boring by any means. Some of the kills were really cool, but the ones that were made with pure CGI looked bad and it kinda slows down of takes you out of it for a moment. Overall, this is a solid 7.5/10. I think you’ll find it to be a fun watch and clearly the people who made this are big fans of the original.

The hype is real! There is a reason why this is the highest rated film on Letterboxd ever and why it’s connecting with so many people. It’s just like you’re watching one big magic trick being performed and you’re the one being played. 9/10
