The world's fastest production hypercar is the Bugatti Chiron SS300+.....nope! The all-electric BYD YangWang U9 Xtreme surpassed it, reaching 496.22kmph at ATP Papenburg, Germany, driven by Marc Basseng. The same race coupe and the same driver have come back to create a new top speed record - 503.17kmph at E11 or Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road, Abu Dhabi.

This makes the U9X make two solid entries in the Guinness Book of World Records - both for the fastest production car, as well as the fastest production electric car. Only 10km of the public road was available, and the coupe's wing was adjusted for increased rear downforce.

Power generated by the YangWang U9 Xtreme is a jaw-dropping figure. It packs a quad-motor setup, with each motor rated to churn out 744bhp. This combines to generate a total power output of over 2,998bhp.

BYD's Denza Z9 GT has been spotted undisguised, ahead of its launch on 13 November.

The Z9 GT is equipped with:

A 1,139bhp/1,210Nm tri-motor setup enables a 0-100kmph sprint of 2.7 seconds. A range of 599km is claimed, and the shooting brake tops out at 277kmph.

Honda's first electric car will be called Alpha, and it will debut in India on 2 December.

The Alpha is likely to get a freestanding infotainment, digital instrument cluster, leather-wrapped steering, and physical AC controls. A boxy-curvy design is what we expect out of the final version.
