@Polyend Polyend published an interview today about the creation of the "Amen" pack with @paolocantarella605 and @echoshack. Read it if you're curious about our goals and process. It also goes into some of the history Paul and I have going back 15 years now!
For years I’ve had the idea of recording some of Paolo's drumming and making our own breakbeats. A couple times when we were practicing in the basement, I’d ask him to lay something down on our cheap set of samson overheads. I’ve used some of those old basement breaks on our productions for years, but I always wanted to do something a little more professional and comprehensive.
Then, earlier this year, someone from the @Polyend Polyend team came across an old video of Paolo and I playing some live Drum n Bass music and asked us if we were interested in creating a sample pack of breakbeats for them!
With the input, help, and recording expertise of Echo Shack we set about recreating classic breaks in an authentic fashion as well as variations with our own additions and subtractions.
Following that, the Polyend team passed our breaks off to some producers in the UK to further process and add more character.
The end result was published today! It is strange for me to feel such a connection to a musical project I didn’t actually play a note on, but I’m very happy with the way this all turned out. It was really fun working on this, and I am honored that Polyend commissioned us! The pack is called 'AMEN,' and if you know anything about Jungle music, you know why. Go buy the pack and support the great people at Polyend (and us too)!
New album up on Bandcamp featuring a selection of tunes previously posted to this channel cleaned up with some better mixes. Go check it out! Link in bio.
