Wally Makes Stuff is where I share real-world DIY, carpentry, fabrication, truck builds, overlanding, off-roading, car audio, tool reviews, and practical problem-solving—the way it actually happens.
Nothing you hear is read from a script. Every video is completely improvised because I want you to see the real thought process behind solving problems, not a polished explanation written after everything already worked.
From planning to mistakes, fixes, and final results, you'll see the whole process. Every project ends with an honest assessment of what worked, what I'd change, and whether it was worth the time and effort.
Some videos include products I purchased, products provided by manufacturers, or affiliate links. Those relationships never determine my opinions.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6 at **5 PM Pacific / 8 PM Eastern**, Keith from Hi-Fi Re-do and I are going live to talk fabrication, car audio, and the paths that brought us here as small business owners and builders.
We’ll also introduce a new project we’re both taking on: building two different **8-inch subwoofer systems** to see how far we can push **sound quality and SPL** without giving up too much space, weight, power, or money.
We’ll compare our approaches, talk about what we’ve learned from past builds, and lay out how we’ll measure the results before the full build videos come out in November.
Join us live and bring your questions.

The really fun part of my overland Tundra build releases today (Sept 16) at 3pm with the hardwood birch floor I designed and built to bolt down without any drilling into the truck. That strength allows the next stage of securely mounting racks and tools directly to the bed.
Curious how that's possible? Be sure to set your alert bell on this one!

7 days in September so far living out of the truck chasing elk in paradise. Up at 4:30am, woods by 5:30, back around 8:30 after about 10-12 miles per day. Such a contrast with suburban living.
Hard work. Frustrating. We got into elk every single day with a handful of encounters less than 30 yards but not the ideal situation to release an arrow. (Tree branches, shot angle, and one time just completely caught off-guard as the herd stampeded in and the lead cow came to a screeching halt 10 feet from me to check me out as I slowly knocked an arrow, only to have her turn and bark as she ran the herd away).
Sometimes I question my sanity, and at 47 years old with a swollen knee - I’ve come to realize it’s more about the character building opportunity for my son, and the time we spend doing hard work together in the absence of electronics and internet. (Ok aside from the lights and microwave back at camp lol).

Ya’ll made this happen! 6 years ago I posted a video for my friends how to diy break an animal hide (poorly filmed, horizontal post filmed vertically so you had to rotate your head 90 degrees to see it correctly). 4 years later I started getting emails from YouTube that I had unanswered comments. I opened the video to respond to find over 20k views!
That’s when I realized maybe I had something to share that people wanted to see. Being an introvert, most of my work has been pretty private - but the community on YouTube has continued to show support and interest in learning and also sharing your knowledge to others in the comments section of my videos. I’ve really enjoyed the interaction, and the growing sense that there are others like myself looking to share, and many people looking to learn skills that other trades and diy craftsmen have spent their lives collecting.
The trades are a dying art, and I won’t let that continue in that direction without a fight. Our younger generations will be lost without the wisdom, skills and leadership of seasoned craftsmen and anyone who gets their hands dirty for a living.
Thank you all for the continued support, as we look forward to a more capable future of young men and women who work with their hands. For trade, hobby, or just to be capable enough to check off the honey-do list on time.

Working on a custom storage rack for the bed of my Tundra with 8020 extruded aluminum - it’ll extend fully out the back of the truck to access all drawers as well as extend 90 degrees when inside the truck to allow access to storage boxes inside and outside the vehicle, plus storage underneath and a bench on top to sit or sleep on. The goal is to have the ultimate function in tool and camp gear storage with the least space and weight possible. This will be part of a multi-part series where I’m building out the overland capability of my Tundra. Stay tuned, part 1 launches in a couple weeks!
