Meditation Practice in Bali | Abhyasa & Yoga Teacher Training
There is no single “perfect” way to meditate.
The room does not need to be completely silent.
Your thoughts do not have to disappear.
Life does not need to stop around you.
A door may close. Birds may call. Someone may walk past.
And still, you can return to the practice.
In Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras, Abhyāsa points toward sustained practice — the willingness to return again and again with steadiness.
Meditation can be approached in the same spirit:
Hear the sound.
Notice the thought.
Feel the breath.
Gently return.
The practice is not about creating perfect conditions. It is about developing awareness within the conditions that are already here.
During our Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, students explore different meditation techniques alongside pranayama, asana, yoga philosophy and traditional yogic practices.
Come to Bali. Join our community. Deepen your practice and experience yoga beyond the physical.

Pranayama in Yoga Teacher Training Bali | Yoga Sutra 2.49
The breath is always moving — but how often do we truly notice it?
तस्मिन् सति श्वासप्रश्वासयोर्गतिविच्छेदः प्राणायामः॥
Tasmin sati śvāsa-praśvāsayor gati-vicchedaḥ prāṇāyāmaḥ.
“When this is established, pranayama is the regulation of the movement of inhalation and exhalation.”
— Patañjali Yoga Sutra 2.49
This sutra reminds us that pranayama is not simply about breathing more deeply. It is about developing awareness of the breath, understanding its rhythm, and gradually bringing greater steadiness and attention to it.
As the breath becomes more conscious, the mind begins to settle and attention naturally turns inward — preparing us for concentration and meditation.
During our Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, students study and practice pranayama as part of the daily curriculum, exploring traditional breath awareness, regulation, meditation preparation, and the deeper philosophy behind the practice.
The practice begins with the breath, but gradually leads us inward.

What does it really mean to practice yoga? 🕉️
Yoga Sutra 1.2 — योगश्चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः (Yogaś Citta-Vṛtti-Nirodhaḥ)
One of Patanjali’s most important teachings reminds us that yoga is much more than physical postures. It is the practice of observing, understanding, and gradually calming the fluctuations of the mind.
At Bali Yoga School, our Yoga Teacher Training in Bali goes beyond asana. Students explore Yoga Philosophy, Pranayama, Meditation, Self-Awareness, traditional yogic practices, special sessions, and community experiences that help bring yoga into everyday life.
The mat gives us a space to practice — but daily life is where the practice becomes real.
Can we remain aware when life becomes difficult?
Can we pause before reacting?
Can we stay present instead of being carried away by our thoughts?
This is where yoga moves from something we do to something we live. 🌿
Practice on the mat. Apply it in life. Live the yoga.

Sometimes, the teacher arrives on four paws. 🐾
During our asana practice, a little guest joined the class and gave us the most natural demonstration of Adho Mukha Svanasana — Downward-Facing Dog. 🐶
It was a joyful moment, but also a beautiful reminder of Ahimsa, the first Yama in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras — the practice of kindness and non-harming toward ourselves, others, animals, and the world around us.
Yoga is not only about perfecting postures.
It is also about how we live, connect, and respond beyond the mat. 🤍
Today’s lesson:
Practice with awareness.
Move with kindness.
And always leave space for a little joy.
✨ Join our upcoming 50, 100, 200, 300 & 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Courses this October.

Bhagavad Gita 2.47 Explained | Do the Work, Release the Outcome
Do the work. Release the outcome.
One of the most powerful teachings from the Bhagavad Gita speaks about action, discipline and letting go of attachment to results.
In Bhagavad Gita 2.47, Krishna tells Arjuna:
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते
मा फलेषु कदाचन।
Karmaṇy evādhikāras te
mā phaleṣu kadācana.
A central message is simple: give yourself sincerely to your actions without becoming consumed by the outcome.
This applies directly to yoga practice.
You may work on an asana for weeks without reaching its final expression. Yet through the process, you may develop patience, discipline, strength, awareness and humility.
The pose was never the only result.
The same is true beyond the mat:
Prepare fully.
Act sincerely.
Give your best.
Release what you cannot control.
At Bali Yoga School, yoga philosophy is an important part of our Yoga Teacher Training because yoga is not only physical practice. It also invites us to reflect on how we act, respond, think and live.
Give yourself completely to the action.
Loosen your grip on the outcome.

Īśvara Praṇidhāna Explained | Prayer, Surrender & Yoga Philosophy
Prayer in yoga does not always need a name, form or symbol. Sometimes, it is simply a moment of sincere intention.
A quiet breath before practice.
A moment of gratitude.
An offering of our effort.
A wish for peace beyond ourselves.
In Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Īśvara Praṇidhāna is one of the five Niyamas within the Eight Limbs of Yoga. It invites us to loosen our attachment to control and dedicate our practice to something beyond the individual ego.
For one person, that may mean the Divine. For another, truth, nature, humanity, consciousness or simply life itself.
This is why yoga philosophy extends far beyond asana. Through asana, pranayama, meditation and the study of traditional yoga philosophy, we begin exploring not only how we practice, but also how we live.
At Bali Yoga School, these teachings form part of a broader journey into yoga — on and beyond the mat.
Breathe. Bow inward. Offer the practice.
