We took on the 49 km Naphan Loop in Tyendinaga—expect mixed gravel and paved roads, beautiful views along the Salmon River, and a few steep 15% climbs that definitely put our granny gears (and Turbo mode!) to the test.

Tomorrow’s the day! Our full Whalen Loop ride drops Sept 9 — a 34 km mixed‑surface adventure through Tyendinaga’s farm country, gravel stretches, forest shade, and that surprise rough dirt trail where the deer flies came out swinging.
We even crossed paths with fellow cyclists — and friends of the channel — out enjoying the back roads.
Rural Ontario cycling at its finest.

This stretch is packed with smooth pavement, shoreline views, wetlands, and those new bridge crossings that make this section such a standout for Ontario cyclists.
We rolled through Lynde Shores and the Oshawa Second Marsh, soaking in every bit of that Lake Ontario shoreline. It’s a beautiful mix of nature, new trail infrastructure, and easy‑flowing kilometres — a perfect ride if you love waterfront scenery and peaceful kilometres.
