Canada based Nigerian tech recruiter arrested over human trafficking and s£x offences in Canada.

A Canada-based Nigerian tech recruiter, Ebunoluwa Tomiwa, has been arrested in Canada and charged over alleged human trafficking and s£xual offences.

According to the Hamilton Police Service, Mr Tomiwa, who also goes by the nickname Boon, was apprehended after he voluntarily turned himself in hours after he was declared wanted.

“Hamilton Police have arrested Ebunoluwa Tomiwa after he turned himself into Police earlier this morning. Tomiwa will be appearing in court for a bail hearing,” the police said in a statement.

The police noted that the 33-year-old, who claims to be a tech recruiter at TEKsystems on his LinkedIn profile, was subsequently charged with human trafficking, procurement of s£xual services and withholding documents.

“Ebunoluwa Tomiwa, 33 years old, of Belleville was arrested for the following charges; Trafficking in Persons, Procuring for S£xual Services, Material Benefit – Trafficking of Persons and Withholding Documents,” Hamilton police noted.

The police said investigators reported that the suspect might have harmed other victims, urging anyone affected to contact the authorities.

“Investigators believe there may be additional victims and encourage anyone who may have information, or who believes they may have been victimized, to come forward and speak with investigators,” the police added.

He Was Only 18: The Nigerian Footballer Who Was Tricked Into Carrying Heroin to Singapore (Reader Discretion Is Advised)

Imagine being just 18 years old, stepping off a plane in Singapore believing you are one step closer to your dream of becoming a professional footballer.

You have no idea that hidden inside your luggage is a deadly substance that could cost you your life.

This was the nightmare that confronted Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi in November 2004.

Tochi was a young Nigerian footballer with big dreams. He wanted to play professionally and build a better future for himself. While playing football in Pakistan, he met a man known as Smith, who appeared to offer him exactly the opportunity he had been waiting for.

Smith told Tochi that he could make $2,000 simply by delivering a package to a man named Marshal in Singapore.

The job sounded simple.

But there was one problem.

Tochi was told that the package contained traditional African herbs and chocolates.

What he allegedly did not know was that hidden inside his luggage were 100 capsules containing more than 727 grams of pure heroin.

Some of the capsules were concealed inside the soles of his shoes and the linings of his gloves. Others were hidden inside a Maltesers container.

On November 28, 2004, Tochi arrived at Singapore's Changi Airport.

For more than 24 hours, he remained inside the airport's transit area. Eventually, when he attempted to check into an airport transit hotel, his movements attracted the attention of airport authorities.

Police and narcotics officers intervened.

The luggage was searched.

Then the capsules were opened.

What officers discovered changed Tochi's life forever.

The substance inside was heroin.

And the quantity was enormous.

Faced with the discovery, Tochi cooperated with investigators. He helped authorities arrange a sting operation targeting the person he had been instructed to meet.

Later that night, at Terminal 2, police arrested Marshal, whose real name was Okeke Nelson Malachy.

But for Tochi, the nightmare was only beginning.

Singapore had some of the world's strictest drug laws. Under its legislation at the time, trafficking or possession of quantities of heroin above the statutory threshold could result in the death penalty.

During the trial, the court considered Tochi's claim that he genuinely did not know what was inside the capsules.

But the prosecution argued that he should have suspected something was wrong.

Why would someone pay an 18-year-old footballer $2,000 to carry a mysterious package?

Why was he transporting so many capsules without knowing exactly what they contained?

The court applied the principle of willful blindness, meaning that even if Tochi did not have actual knowledge of the drugs, he had failed to make reasonable inquiries about what he was carrying.

He was sentenced to death.

The case quickly attracted international attention.

Human-rights organizations, including Amnesty International, called for clemency. The United Nations also appealed for the sentence to be reconsidered.

Even Nigeria's President at the time, Olusegun Obasanjo, personally appealed to Singapore for mercy.

But Singapore refused.

The appeals failed.

The request for clemency was rejected.

Then came January 26, 2007.

At Changi Prison, Iwuchukwu Tochi and Okeke Nelson Malachy were executed by hanging.

Tochi had arrived in Singapore just over two years earlier with dreams of becoming a professional footballer.

He left the world at just 21 years old.

Whether he knowingly carried the drugs or was tragically deceived by the people who recruited him, the story of Iwuchukwu Tochi remains a devastating warning about how a seemingly simple opportunity can hide consequences that cannot be undone.

The Nigeria Police, Cross River State Command has released photo of an unidentified woman whose de@d body was recently found in a hotel room situated along Clifford Lane Calabar, the state capital, and asked for the public's help in identifying her and finding the man who lodged in the hotel room with her.

Police say the woman was found unresponsive earlier this month after she lodged at the hotel with an unidentified male guest whose whereabouts remain unknown. Police also said that the man was not properly documented when they checked in and further disclosed that investigation is in progress to unravel the cause of the woman's de@th and locate her male companion.

The incident was first reported on September 8 after a receptionist noticed that the door to the room was open and discovered the woman inside. Police investigators who visited the scene observed apparent marks of vi%lence on her face and neck. She was taken to General Hospital, Calabar, where she was confirmed de@d and her body deposited at the mortuary.

The receptionist on duty remains in police custody and is assisting investigators with information about the guests’ admission and what happened before the woman was found. However, the Police Command stressed that his detention should not be taken as a determination of guilt, adding that any further action would depend on available evidence and the law.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, directed that the investigation be conducted professionally and objectively to identify the deceased, determine the circumstances surrounding her de@th, locate the male guest and establish the roles, if any, of anyone connected to the incident.

The police urged anyone who recognises the woman or has information that could help identify her, locate her family or find the male guest to contact the Police Control Room, or visit the nearest police station.

In April 1972, in Ajalli, near Awka in what was then East-Central State, a father stood beside his condemned son at a moment neither of them would ever forget.

His son was Stanley Enekwe, a former Biafran soldier who had returned home after the Nigerian Civil War.

According to historical accounts circulated about the case, Stanley had been convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to death by firing squad. One account says the case involved an official Nigerian Army vehicle he had brought back after the war. However, the circumstances of the conviction—and claims that Stanley was wrongly accused—cannot be independently established from surviving reliable records.

What is documented in the surviving accounts is the extraordinary presence of his father.

At a time when executions could become public spectacles, Stanley’s father refused to abandon his son.

He went to the execution ground at Ajalli and remained beside him.

He didn’t turn away.

He didn’t distance himself from his son.

Instead, as Stanley stood awaiting the firing squad, his father reached out and gently wiped his face.

It was a small gesture.

But in that terrible moment, it spoke louder than words.

According to the accounts accompanying the photograph, Stanley’s father then whispered:

“Fear not. The Lord is waiting to receive you.”

The photograph captured that final moment between father and son.

The story became particularly poignant because people from Stanley’s community reportedly maintained that he was innocent. A later account attributed to Uzoamaka Udokwu Nwankwo of the Nigerian Nostalgia Project says an eyewitness described Stanley as a Biafran officer who returned home with an official vehicle and subsequently became the subject of the case. That account also disputes the description of Stanley as an armed robber. These claims remain difficult to independently verify.

What is clearer is the historical setting.

The execution came only about two years after the Nigerian Civil War, during a period when the government of General Yakubu Gowon was dealing with widespread post-war insecurity and a rise in armed robbery. Armed Robbery Tribunals were established during this period, and death sentences were imposed for armed robbery.

But beyond the politics, the accusations and the punishment was something deeply human.

A father standing beside his son.

A hand wiping away sweat.

A few final words of comfort.

Whatever the truth surrounding Stanley Enekwe’s conviction, his father’s decision to remain with him until the end became the enduring image attached to his story.

He could not change the sentence.

He could not stop what was coming.

But he could make sure his son did not face his final moments alone.

And sometimes, that is what love looks like.

Not being able to save someone—but refusing to abandon them.

Whenever Abasi became pregnant, she would mysteriously disappear for months.

She reportedly claimed that local traditions prevented her husband from seeing her while she was pregnant. Then, after roughly nine months, she would suddenly return—with a baby.

But that wasn’t the only secret surrounding their marriage.

At one point, Abasi introduced Godwin to a 19-year-old boy, claiming he was her younger brother.

Godwin would later discover that the teenager was actually Abasi’s biological son from an earlier relationship.

And as the strange discoveries continued, Godwin reportedly began confiding in friends that he had serious doubts about whether the children living in his home were actually his.

He also reportedly suspected that his wife was having an affair with her boss in Calabar.

By early January 2022, the tension inside the marriage had reached a dangerous point.

Godwin went to his mother-in-law’s residence.

But he would never return home alive.

By January 20, Abasi was reportedly telling coworkers who asked about her husband that Godwin was simply unwell.

The reality, according to the prosecution’s case, was far more disturbing.

Godwin was already dead.

Abasi later told his family that Godwin had suffered a severe asthma attack, had been rushed to a clinic, and had died there.

At first, the story appeared believable because Godwin reportedly had a history of asthma.

But then Abasi’s behavior started raising questions.

She returned to work as though nothing had happened.

Some of her colleagues reportedly didn’t even know that her husband had died.

And when Godwin’s siblings demanded to see his body, they encountered one obstacle after another.

For weeks, they were allegedly denied access.

At one point, Abasi reportedly demanded that the family sign an indemnity document releasing her from liability before she would hand over the mortuary receipt.

That demand only deepened the family’s suspicions.

Eventually, Godwin’s relatives went to the mortuary themselves.

And what they saw destroyed the asthma story.

Godwin’s body reportedly showed a deep injury above his eye.

There were also marks suggesting that his hands and feet had been tightly bound.

The mortician reportedly told the family that the body had arrived already stiff and decomposing—something that raised serious questions about the claim that Godwin had recently died at a clinic.

Then came the finding that changed everything.

Toxicology reportedly showed that Godwin had been poisoned with Sniper, a highly toxic pesticide.

The case presented to investigators was no longer that of a man who had suddenly died from asthma.

It was a murder investigation.

According to the prosecution’s case, Godwin had been beaten, restrained, and forcibly poisoned before his death.

Investigators also alleged that the supposed hospital treatment was part of a cover-up.

A Reverend Father who owned the clinic was accused of helping create a false medical explanation for Godwin’s death, including a report attributing the death to an asthma attack.

The arrests soon followed.

Abasi was arrested alongside her mother, her sister, and the Reverend Father.

But the case eventually ran into one of the most difficult questions in a murder trial:

Who actually killed Godwin?

The prosecution could establish a conspiracy and a horrifying chain of events, but the suspects did not confess to who physically carried out the beating or administered the poison.

And without sufficient evidence linking each accused person directly to the killing itself, the court had to work within the limits of the law.

In June 2025, the court handed down its sentences.

Abasi’s mother, her sister, and the Reverend Father were each sentenced to ten years in prison.

Abasi, however, was convicted of conspiracy and sentenced to two years.

Because her sentence was backdated to the time of her arrest in 2022, she had effectively already served the term.

She walked out of court.

A free woman.

Nigerian Cleric Goes Into Hiding After Mummified Body Is Found at Church Property in Cameroon

A Nigerian cleric wanted by authorities in Cameroon has reportedly gone into hiding after investigators discovered a mummified body buried beneath a concrete slab at a property associated with his church in Yaoundé.

The discovery was made on September 19 at about 9 a.m. by officers from the Nkoabang Special Police Station while investigating Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu, also known as Ekedi Samuel.

Kenechukwu, the founder of Mercy of God Ministry, is reportedly being sought by Cameroonian security authorities over allegations including human trafficking, kidnapping and unlawful detention.

Several Cameroonian media outlets have reported on the investigation. Camer.be described Kenechukwu as a Nigerian prophet who has been operating in Cameroon since 2018.

According to reports, investigators searching the church-linked property in Nkoabang uncovered a white-and-gold coffin buried approximately 1.5 metres underground beneath a concrete slab.

Inside the coffin was what investigators described as a mummified body, believed at first sight to be that of a woman.

The body was reportedly dressed in a traditional blue outfit decorated with gold embroidery and was lying on padding inside the coffin. The condition of the remains and the unusual way they had been buried prompted investigators to treat the discovery as suspicious.

The underground structure was reportedly uncovered after residents vandalised parts of the property, leading security officers to inspect the area more closely.

Authorities were said to be awaiting approval to conduct further searches of the property, amid concerns that additional remains or other evidence could potentially be found.

At the time of the reports, investigators had not established the identity of the deceased or determined how the person died.

The discovery came days after another search of the same Nkoabang property on September 9.

During that operation, investigators reportedly found five vehicles, several hundred kilogrammes of food, working freezers and around 30 rooms.

They also discovered a pit measuring approximately two metres deep, although its purpose had not been established.

The investigation at Nkoabang followed an earlier operation at another property allegedly connected to Mercy of God Ministry in Ngousso, Yaoundé, on September 6.

According to reports, security personnel found 20 people inside a basement at that location. They reportedly included 10 women, eight men and two children, aged six and seven.

The discovery prompted authorities to widen their investigation to other properties allegedly connected to the ministry.

Kenechukwu has reportedly remained at large, with Cameroonian authorities said to have alerted border security agencies and involved Interpol in efforts to locate him.

Meanwhile, investigations are continuing as authorities work to determine the identity of the person whose remains were discovered, the circumstances surrounding the death and what activities may have been taking place at the properties linked to the ministry.
