Chef. Forager. Sustainable seafood obsessive.
I'm Geronimo -- a professional chef and MAD Academy alum based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This channel is about the food that actually matters: wild-caught, regeneratively sourced, foraged from coastlines and forests, and rooted in the Filipino culinary tradition I grew up with.
You'll find recipes built around longevity seafood (the stuff that's good for you and good for the ocean), coastal foraging adventures, behind-the-scenes sourcing stories, and honest conversations about where your food actually comes from.
No preaching. Just good food, real sourcing, and the occasional "kain na."
Partners include Seatopia, Patagonia Provisions, and Algae Cooking Club.
New videos weekly. Subscribe if you want to eat well and leave the ocean better than you found it.

New episode of Geronimo Eats the Bay is up. I went foraging in the Oakland hills with Chef Crystal Wahpepah, and she taught me something I've been thinking about since.
I asked how she IDs a plant. She said she looks for personality.
I don't think I've heard a better description of what foraging actually feels like once you've done it long enough. Curious whether that lands the same way for anyone else who forages.

New episode is up. We went foraging in Pacifica with Eleana Hsu of Shared Cultures and made miso soup from what we found.
Somewhere in the middle of it, Eleana stopped and pointed out that there was poison hemlock growing directly behind me. Six grams will kill you. I'd walked past it without noticing.
Then she did something that stuck with me: she hid a stem of it in a bunch of edible plants and asked if I could tell the difference. Watch that part and see if you can. I've been foraging for years and I wasn't confident.
The tell is around the 3-minute mark if you want to test yourself first.

SF has incredible seafood. It also has a lot of bluewashing.
I put together a guide to the spots that actually hold up: restaurants where I can trace the sourcing, know the fishing method, and stand behind what's on the plate. Hog Island, Anchovy Bar, Tsar Nicoulai, Nopa Fish, Fish. Sausalito.
Full guide with reservation links and what to order at each one is live now on www.geronimocooks.com/sf-sustainable-seafood-guideβ¦
Which of these have you been to?
