emmy Curl is the artistic heteronym of Catarina Miranda Trindade, one of the first female music producers in Portugal. A multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, visual and 3D artist, video director and singer-songwriter, she released her first self-produced work, Ether, at just 15 years old. By 18, she was already performing on major stages across Portugal and gaining national recognition with the EP Origins. Following the acclaimed albums Navia, ØPorto, and Pastoral I and II released by her own label Exemplar Discos, her work has become known for blending traditional Portuguese influences with dream pop, electronic textures, and modern jazz. In 2025, she was awarded the Prémio José Afonso 2025 for Pastoral.

On the 9th of March, I was in my bed trying to figure out a solution for the upcoming
inevitable cancellation of my tour. I came to Portugal from Denmark on purpose to present
my new work and to share it with you, even though the doctors warned me not to go,
because I'm in a risk pregnancy position. Basically, my cervix is short and can crack
anytime, and I could deliver before the due date in June. I'm 6 months through. I took the
flight to Portugal alone, anxious of delivering in the mid air (ahah it could happen, the doctor
said!!). Besides, I had to carry the baby inside me to every interview and showcase to
promote the tour...and when the most important part was about to come, to perform my art
for you, it had to be canceled. I invested all my funds in OPorto. Even though I had the
pleasure of being supported, GDA (Portuguese artists rights management), the amount of
money was not enough to invest in CDs and vinyls, music videos, gear, transportation, and
so on. Everything you can hear and see is not cheap to make, if you're an independent artist
as me.
So, I've always been an adaptive person. Actually, my life, preferabily, is very fluent, like
currencies of the oceans. I needed no steady point to do what I did. But suddenly, I realize
that it was the confidence of the other people's routine that made me feel calm doing my
tight rope walkings. Suddenly, I'm in this middle of nowhere, where I feel the weight of the
world around me and the fear of everyone.
It made me cry, not just because my hormones are making me sensible about everything,
but because it was so sad for me to see how vulnerable it is to face the near future without
the ones for whom I'm doing this.
The artist lives to share the experience, because without, it feels like an unrequited love.
This is why I decided to do this 'live session' for you and I hope you would join me and
support my work with money (even if just a little) or buying my new album. I'm also in a
process of producing a new album recorded here in the mountains of Vila Real that
