Randy Arozarena had a very solid year with the Mariners in 2026, hitting .281 with 26 HR, 26 SB, and an .865 OPS.
There is no question the Yankees need more right-handed bats, and Arozarena could be a major addition to the lineup. Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times recently reported that Seattle is not expected to bring the star outfielder back, potentially opening the door for the Yankees to pursue him. At 31 years old, Arozarena is projected to command a five-year contract worth $100 million to $125 million.
His postseason track record is another major selling point. Across 45 playoff games, he has hit .292 with 12 HR and a .946 OPS. Adding a proven October performer like Arozarena could give the Yankees’ lineup another weapon when it matters most.
The biggest question is how the Yankees would handle the outfield defensively. Signing Arozarena would likely mean moving Bellinger to center field, which could affect the team’s defensive strength. However, the potential offensive boost could make the move worthwhile.
The Yankees could also choose to address the outfield internally, giving prospects like Spencer Jones or Jasson Domínguez an opportunity instead of making a major free-agent signing.
One player the Yankees could target this offseason to upgrade third base is Teruaki Sato.
The 27-year-old won the Triple Crown in Japan this past season with the Hanshin Tigers, hitting .306 with 39 HR | 106 RBI | .991 OPS.
Sato is another left-handed bat who could provide power to the lineup. With third base options being thin heading into next season, he could be a unique option. He also has experience playing the outfield and has won a Gold Glove at third base.
His contract is projected to be in the $100M range over multiple years, although the impending lockout could impact negotiations. His posting window runs from November 1 to December 5.
Jon Heyman reported that the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers and Phillies are among the teams interested.
Would you like to see the Yankees bring in Sato?

Thank you to everyone who followed along with our content and supported us this season. Another painful season for the Yanks, but it’ll only make it that much sweeter when we finally get that 28th ring.
We’ll be taking the next 1-2 weeks pretty light with content, and then we’ll be back with livestreams and offseason content
The Yankees have plenty of work to do this offseason with the impending lockout looming over the 2027 season. Here are a few key areas they will need to address.
Second Base
With Jazz Chisholm Jr. potentially on his way out, do the Yankees give the job to Anthony Volpe or José Caballero? Do they pursue a player like Luis Arraez, or try using Luis García Jr., who has played second base in the past but has yet to play the position with the Yankees?
Third Base
Ryan McMahon has one year left on his contract at $16 million for 2027. After hitting .213 with 11 home runs and a .636 OPS, it is certainly worth discussing whether the Yankees should look to upgrade. His defense also was not as sharp this season. Moving his contract could be difficult, and with Caballero and potentially Volpe also capable of playing third, the Yankees may need to explore the trade market given the thin free-agent options at the position.
Bullpen
The Yankees’ bullpen posted the best ERA in baseball this season, with David Bednar, Brent Headrick, and Paul Blackburn forming an effective trio. However, Bednar and Blackburn are both set to become free agents, meaning the Yankees will have work to do to keep the bullpen strong heading into 2027.
Giancarlo Stanton
Stanton is set to make $15 million in 2027, with a club option for 2028. Given his injury history and the presence of Ben Rice and Luis García Jr. at first base, it will be interesting to see how the Yankees manage their DH spot moving forward.
There are plenty of decisions ahead for the Yankees this offseason, and how they handle these positions could go a long way toward determining their success in 2027.
