Shockingly, about half of these are acquired from a partner who unknowingly brought the virus home from an external source. Living together doesn’t make you “immune”—it makes transparency and regular testing your most vital relationship goal.

This Boxing Day, we are challenging every young person in Ghana to unbox the one thing we often keep hidden: our status. Transparency is the only way to halt the spread of HIV in our generation. It takes courage to have the conversation, but it takes even more strength to protect the person you claim to love. Don’t let the festivities end in regret.

Every day in Ghana, about 35 people die from AIDS-related illnesses—not due to lack of treatment, but because stigma, late diagnosis, and gaps in care persist. Behind the statistics are real lives lost and futures disrupted, with women and girls bearing the greatest burden.
