I think this is one of my favorite months! Not only do we have Halloween where we get to express ALLL the creativity, it's ALSO Thanksgiving which happens to coincide with my anniversary 10/10/2020 🥰😁
Now I do have a dilemma and need your help... At the end of last season I got my first ever inflatable for like 85% off! It's a Jack Skellington BUT he's in his Christmas getup.
Should I put him out for Halloween 👻 OR Keep him for Christmas 🎄
Hey everyone! TL:DR I changed the channel name 😁 DeInfluenced→ContextuallyNuanced
I'd like to take a moment and share my thoughts on this decision. I mentioned in my recent life update video I've been feeling called to change things up. As someone who strives to facilitate healthy nuanced conversations, with a dash of sarcasm ofc, I find I am no longer feeling aligned to the name Deinfluenced.
I personally believe we should be forever learning and therefore should always be adjusting to be the best version of ourselves. For me personally that means making sure I'm staying true and always re-evaluating my intentions to maintain my integrity.
One accusation(?) point of criticism(?) I receive often is I'm simply striving for the downfall of the people I cover, that I want to see them crash and burn and be cancelled immediately. I know those who have been here from the beginning and watch consistently know this is not what I'm about because I've repeatedly stated that redemption is *almost* always possible (within reason, some people just need to be cancelled **coughcoughJamesCharlescoughcough**) But I genuinely think everyone can learn from their mistakes. We do the best we can until we know better, then we do better. After taking some time to sit with this criticism, I can't help but question if my channel name plays a big part in how people are perceiving my platform from an outside perspective and I've realized how off putting it could be to new viewers and fully understand why.
I love providing you with well rounded, thoroughly researched information so you can make informed decisions with ALL the context and I never meant to come across as telling you who you should follow. I also think there is a lot of value in challenging our biases with a healthy dose of nuance so that our criticism stays valid and does not devolve into B*t¢h Eating Crackers syndrome. ESPECIALLY with a commentary channel like mine that calls out crappy behaviours we see on the internet. That way even when covering those we KNOW are horrible we can make sure that focus stays on the criticism that matters. This is important to me.
This also means that I'll also be going back through my older content to make sure it still aligns with my original intentions. Videos that don't, will likely go members only and be re-done or re-edited and posted again, especially if they have important information.
I hope this makes sense and the rebrand reflects what I tried to say in my ramble here. I also explain it in the next video but I know not all of you will necessarily watch and this was a good way to get the explanation out 🥰 thank you for coming to my Ted talk! And as always, thank you so incredibly much for the love and support 🫂 I wouldn't be here without you guys and I can't thank you enough

I'm absolutely devastated, in shock and not at all okay. A piece of me died last night. Mickey I loved you so much it hurt, and this hurts more than I can even put into words

I'm honored you were a part of our lives over the last eleven and a half years given at one point we weren't even sure if you would even make it to let alone past 8 and we got so much more love, time and companionship from you 💖 You will be deeply missed.
Please if you have it, send some extra love and virtual hugs to my hubby. He is not doing okay 💔😔
All that said guys I'm sorry I haven't been active. These last few weeks have been more busy and emotional than anticipated and I just haven't had the spoons to film anything at all. I will be back as soon as I can, I promise 💖🫂 I appreciate all you tuning in, rewatching old videos, commenting new thoughts etc, it is truly helpful during this transitional and heavy time.
