This is what my own character designs look like. I only really post fanart but here's insight into my own design philosophy/what I like to draw privately just so you know what I can do. This was about a month ago.

-I take comms-

TEO is a LITTLE more elaborate than most my ocs but it's important for his character that he's all dressed up. Smashed together Drum Major/Mesoamerican/Parrot motifs and made this colourful monstrosity.

Step 1: Get ur idea
Step 2: Pour thru references
Step 3: Silhouette/Block out shapes
Step 4: Sketch
Step 5: Colour Concepts
Step 6: Line
Step 7: Flat

You can shade but I typically don't so colour picking is easier.
