Today, it carries a deeper meaning.

I’m realizing how much of my energy I spent in a cycle of tit for tat.

Measuring what I gave, what I received, whether I was doing enough, whether I was enough.

A kind of hypervigilance that kept me focused on the outside world, constantly reaching for something.

Then I started asking myself…..

How much of what I consume is actually nourishing me, + how much keeps me in the same loop?

I’m learning that my life is not something I need to keep measuring against the outside world.

I am the one experiencing it, giving life to it + connecting with everything around me.

❤️I want to create from that place.

To leave more room for joy, spontaneity, + full expression.

The deeper I go it becomes clearer.

What I’ve learned through my own journey of inhabiting my body…..

I see the patterns, layers which ultimately mirror something bigger + beyond my life.

It’s something I can can’t unsee it anymore.

We can speak about the world needing to change while overlooking the ways we participate in the very things we say we want to change.

This isn’t about placing the responsibility for systemic violence on the individual.

It’s about recognizing that the way we relate to ourselves + others is part of the world we’re creating.

The work begins with noticing.

With feeling underneath our reactions.

With becoming more aware of how we’re showing up.

Not to become perfect, but to take responsibility for what we can.

The more I learned to inhabit my body, the more I began to recognize how I was relating to myself within my experiences.

Not by thinking through every pattern, but by consistently returning to the sensations + allowing awareness to emerge through the experience itself.

Over time, this created the capacity to experience things differently — opening the possibility for another response.

This is the heart ❤️ of the work I share: developing the awareness to recognize how we’re referencing ourselves through the way we experience life.

If this resonates, you can explore more of my reflections on Substack or learn about my private mentorship, Mother as Source.

One of my favorite things to do with my son is go for walks in the city to notice.

This was one of the mornings we were heading to school.

It was feeling cold, brisk + the city was moving fast.

We turned the corner + the brightest reflection of the sunlight casting on the sidewalk drew my focus.

For a moment I gazed to it with deep appreciation + the simple beauty it offered.

My son immediately pointed out how it looked see through like almost like the sidewalk isn’t there.

I took a quick picture + he proceeded to pretend to fall into the imaginary depths of no sidewalk.

What I find in learning how to inhabit my body is that it’s given me more spaciousness to notice things + moments like these.

It revealed to me in all the ways how the stories of needing to be elsewhere, to fix , to get - all essentially telling me I needed permission to land, to arrive in my own body, my own experience.

What if arriving in your life isn’t something you have to work toward, but something you can begin to experience when you stop referencing yourself through everything you think you need to become, fix, or figure out?

This is the work I continue to explore + live through embodiment.

Not as another thing to perfect, but as a way of relating to yourself + your experience differently.

It’s also the heart of my private mentorship, Mother as Source — a space for women to deepen their relationship with themselves, recognize the patterns that keep them looking outside themselves + begin to move through life from a place of their own inner authority.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to invite you to explore my mentorship or join me on Substack, where I share more of these personal reflections, discoveries + the unfolding of this work in real time.

Both are linked in my bio. 🤍

MOTHER AS SOURCE

A 6-week private mentorship for women who are done circling, abandoning themselves, and constantly referencing outside of themselves for safety, clarity, worth, and power.

This work is about returning to your body through movement, breath & stillness. To discover, inhabit…
Your truth.Your capacity.Your presence.

So you can lead, love, and create from within.

There is so much power, love that is revealed when we learn to stay, not abandon ourselves.

For a long time, I thought caring for my body was primarily about what my body could do.

How strong I was.
How flexible I was.
How I looked.
How hard I could push.

Over the years, especially through my embodiment work, that relationship has changed.

Caring for my body has become a deeper act of devotion.

Not about aesthetics.
Not about performing.
Not about pushing through.
Not about fixing.

It’s about developing a relationship with the body that carries me through my life.

The more I’ve taken time to feel, move, and connect with what’s within me, the more I’ve seen how directly that relationship influences the way I experience everything outside of me.

Being able to run, wrestle, and play with my son is something I don’t take for granted.

Being able to dance, exercise, explore, and move through the world is an investment in how I get to experience my life.

This is also what has brought me back to movement coaching.

I’ve spent more than a decade working in fitness and wellness—as a personal trainer, yoga teacher, mobility specialist, and embodiment facilitator—and I’m opening a few spaces for one-on-one Movement Coaching, both remotely and in person in Midtown.

This work is for anyone who wants to:
• improve mobility
• build strength
• work with chronic tension or pain
• feel more confident in their body
• or simply develop a deeper understanding of how they move

My intention isn’t to hand you another program to follow.

It’s to help you better understand your own body so that movement can become more intuitive, sustainable, and connected to you.

In many ways, this feels like a continuation of the work I’ve been doing all along—just expressed through the body in a very tangible way.

If you’re interested in working together, you can reach out to me directly or visit www.mellisachung.com to book a session.

I’d love to move with you.

Inhabiting my body has given me the opportunity to not only accept, but also the capacity to continue to want and do better.

So much of what I used to feel and experience in my body, I internalized and made about me.

Every chaotic or unpredictable outcome, or anything that didn’t go in my favor, was a reflection of my worth or proof that the world was against me.

But what I now know and have come to understand is that it’s about experiencing all the things—the highs and lows and everything in between—and allowing that internal experience to encourage me to grow, and to lean more deeply into love.

It’s never about perfection.

And when I trust my internal experiences in this way, I can trust life through all of its seasons.

The body doesn’t just carry our experiences.

It reveals our relationship to them.
