What followed was one of the most genuine conversations about faith, God’s timing, and the true meaning of being rich.

Anthony shared a powerful part of his testimony, including a 20-year journey of trusting God when things didn’t make sense.

One thing he said really stuck with me:

“You can have any money in the account, but with God in your life, you are rich.”

This wasn’t a planned interview. It was a reminder that sometimes God puts the right people in our path when we least expect it.

Before leaving Ohio, Mari prayed that we would find Jesus wherever we went.

Sometimes you walk into a recovery meeting thinking you know what the conversation is going to be about…

…and then God completely changes the plan.

Today’s episode of The Ride is one of those episodes.

Patrice and I talk before heading into the Friday meeting at the residential treatment facility where I got sober. We talk about getting past the surface-level answers, creating a space where people can actually tell the truth, and what it means to simply show up and be willing vessels.

But on the ride home, one moment kept sticking with us.

We had watched a guy who, just weeks earlier, wasn’t smiling, wasn’t holding his head up, and seemed ready for confrontation…

Now we were seeing something different.

A prayer.
A conversation.
A simple interaction over a bag of M&Ms.

Small things.

But sometimes the smallest moments are where the biggest changes begin.

That’s what this episode is really about.

Recovery. Faith. People. Change. And what can happen when you stop trying to control the outcome and simply show up for somebody.

You never know what God might be doing in someone’s life when you’re standing right in front of them.

Real recovery requires us to be honest about where we are.
