Lessons from a Managing Partner & Head of Research:

*What separates senior analysts from novices?*

Senior analysts:

- Know the inputs to their company's product or service and the main markets it sells into
- Concentrate on the factors where their view differs from consensus
- Can explain each company's strategy and how it differs from competitors'
- Know which of their assumptions differ from the market's when their target is far from the price
- Know each company's peak and trough valuation levels for at least 10 years
- Accept that nobody has 100% of the information when making a call
